Get Ready For The Swift Boating Of Obama Over Killing Of Bin Laden

Posted by Ellen -7859.80pc on August 15, 2012 · Flag

It's Swift Boat time on Fox News again - this time, instead of a book and a video of veterans accusing a Democrat of lying about his military service, we'll have a Fox News media campaign "that scolds President Barack Obama for taking credit for the killing of Osama bin Laden and argues that high-level leaks are endangering American lives," as the lede paragraph of the post on Fox Nation puts it. This is also currently the top story on Fox Nation and it's rated "inspiring" by its readers.

Here's what's inspiring the Nation:

Leaders of the group, the Special Operations OPSEC Education Fund Inc... is registered as a so-called social welfare group, which means its primary purpose is to further the common good and its political activities should be secondary.

...The OPSEC group says it is not political and aims to save American lives. Its first public salvo is a 22-minute film that includes criticism of Obama and his administration. The film, to be released on Wednesday, was seen in advance by Reuters.

"Mr. President, you did not kill Osama bin Laden, America did. The work that the American military has done killed Osama bin Laden. You did not," Ben Smith, identified as a Navy SEAL, says in the film.

You can bet your "fair and balanced" that these guys will get tons of favorable air time on Fox - and the network will be whining about the "Obama mainstream media" for ignoring this "important" controversy unless they give it huge coverage, too. And, of course, it's not Fox News or the Republians driving this story, oh no. It's the SEALS.

Obama made the decision to take Bin Laden out against the advice of some of his advisors. If it had failed, Fox News would have given him the blame, but now he has succeeded, they don’t want to give him the credit. Amazing! Honest newscasters regardless of political affiliation should realize this simple observation.

Lakeview Greg, I had to delete your comment quoting the LA Times because I think it quoted a bit too much to keep me away from copyright infringement. Unfortunately, I don’t have the ability to edit comments right now, though the engineer is supposedly working on fixing the glitch.

In any event, I did a whole post about the LA Times article, which you’ve probably seen by now. So no harm, no foul, I hope.

Here is the transcript from President Obama’s Address to the Nation on the evening of May 1, 2011, from the White House East Room, on the subject of the killing of Osama bin Laden by US forces:

Funny — I’ve read it over at least twice, and can’t find anyplace where the President said, “I killed bin Laden”.

Perhaps some of the trolls who consistently display their mind-reading powers here can . . .

Why does the so-called right speak out of both ends, I don’t understand how they assign blame to the President for anything negative under his watch, but it’s wrong to give him credit for giving the order to take out the number one terrorist. Seriously…. what if the mission had been a failure or for that matter if the President had the intelligence and decided not act on it what would right-wing ad be then…..fair is fair if you can’t give credit for leadership the President showed during this mission, then you shouldn’t assign blame for the negative things either……For Goodness sake the President said during his campaign that he would do it and now that he has the right can’t handle the fact that this President a Democrat aimed and gave the order to pull the trigger…

Typical Fux Noise. Smear our President for something he did NOT say.

“Scott Taylor, is a former Navy Seal who ran unsuccessfully for a Republican congressional nomination; it is undoubtedly simply a quirk of fate that Chad Kolton, onetime spokesman for the office of Director of National Intelligence in Gee Dub’s administration, is a representative for the OPSEC group”
Non partisan my ass.

They’ve already consistently been pounding this meme since Osama was killed. Who else do they think will really be swayed? Tell me….is there still some racist, homophobic goobers that are ‘on the fence’ about Obama?

“Mr. President, you did not kill Osama bin Laden, America did. The work that the American military has done killed Osama bin Laden. You did not.”

I’m with MJ- where did Obama say that he did it specifically? When Bin Laden was killed, he credited everyone involved in the process, even going back to what progress was made during the Bush Administration.

And I guess Fox News and their lemmings were too busy fuming over Bin Laden’s end happing during a Dem’s presidency to note that Obama outright said all he did was review the evidence and give the order when he was convinced. Either that, or “I gave the order when I was sure” transaltes to “I pulled the trigger myself” in their bizzarro language.

“Mr. President, you did not kill Osama bin Laden, America did. The work that the American military has done killed Osama bin Laden. You did not,” Ben Smith, identified as a Navy SEAL, says in the film.

Well, Ben, if you TRULY were a SEAL, you would know that the American military has a COMMANDER IN CHIEF who gives it orders — and that COMMANDER IN CHIEF is THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES [BARACK H. OBAMA].

Of course, Ben — if you TRULY were a SEAL, you would know that using contemptuous words against the Commander in Chief, as you are, is punishable by court-martial.

BTW, Ben — I’m trying to recall exactly when the POTUS specifically said HE killed Osama bin Laden . . . he DID give the order, as noted above . . .
