Geraldo Rivera Rips The Politicization Of Benghazi Tragedy

Posted by Ellen -7859.80pc on October 26, 2012 · Flag

Geraldo Rivera visited Fox & Friends this morning where they engaged in a heated discussion of Fox’s faux scandal, Benghazi-Gate. Predictably, the curvy couch crew chickenhawks were full of concern that always seems to be more focused on discrediting the Obama administration than in reporting what happened. Rivera told them, “I think we need to stop this politicizing… these preposterous allegations, reckless allegations.”

As Think Progress noted,

Rivera was primarily responding to statements just minutes before by Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA), who sits on the House Government and Oversight Committee. In his remarks, Kelly claimed that the Pentagon was unable or unwilling to respond to the attack, which wound up killing four Americans, despite “real-time” information coming in. Rivera pushed back on Kelly’s claims and the idea that military assets could have made it to Libya in time.

Rivera said:

I think we have to stop this politicizing… We’re getting away from the real issue, which was why wasn’t there security before this happened? That’s the issue. But these preposterous allegations, reckless allegations, that somebody — They paint a picture - some fat bureaucrat watching TV. You heard him describe it, Congressman Kelly. I think that’s really beyond the pale.

Rivera said he had interviewed Senator John Barrasso, Senator James Inhofe and Senator Corker, three Republican senators sitting on the Foreign Relations Committee .“They all agree that the supercharged atmosphere around the story – prudence dictates that these hearings be postponed until November 15 when they will determine what happened. But in this climate now when you have people like Darrell Issa in the House Oversight Committee releasing documents…” Rivera was interrupted by Brian Kilmeade who actually said, "Al Qaeda's not gonna wait!"

But Rivera got this question in: "Do we want to know what happened or do we want to try and influence the election with a tragedy that happened in North Africa?"

I think we know the answer and so does he.

Joshua, Journalist and Faux Snoooxe, nope. Asking questions is one thing, but all Faux Snoooze is interested in is politicizing this issue. There’s an investigation going on, it’s not being ignored but you don’t want to wait, your like Faux Snoooze, there’s an election and you want to politicize it for the sake of Mittens. Faux Snoooze has had how many “special reports” about this already when they don’t know what happened, but they like to throw out their version as the truth. Clean your thumb and insert. By the way, where’s Faux Snoooze special report on Mittens lying about Jeep? Heck where’s even a mention about it.

BTW, Asking questions about an incident such as this is not politicizing, it is doing what journalists are supposed to do. Is it supposed to be ignored just because an election is so close? If this is all smoke and mirrors by FOX, then why doesn’t Obama put this to rest by answering questions about it? or releasing the video… or something.

@ Truman I would feel fine in Zimmerman’s Neighborhood, as I wouldn’t tackle and fight with anyone. Will you buy me the plane ticket? It’d be nice to be in Florida right now.

@Mike— but they didn’t did they. Maybe Obama should start answering questions (or let the State Dept. answer) to put this to rest so they can sit on the curvy couch with their heads hanging low…

I watched the clip and they are sickening. They just want to jump up and yell it’s Obama’s fault, Obama’s fault. All 3 of those couch lizards should stick their thumbs up their ass. Ridiculous!

@mj-the same one. Good memo. Suggest one additional paragraph.
3. Any future failure to promote the Fux Noise meme de jure may result in placing a hooded sweatshirt on you and forcing you to walk through George Zimmerman’s Florida neighborhood.

A couple of things I hope are on President Obama’s to-do list after he is sworn in for a new term as President. 1. Revoke the White House press credentials of Fux Noise. They are no more a news organization than the public affairs office of the GOPiggie political headquarters. 2. Tell Darrell Issa to f-off with his political witchhunts disguised as Congressionial investigations.

Forget Geraldo. Gorgeous Gretchen Carlson is sooo shapely & seductive in that tight white dress. She makes you forget all about Marylin Monroe.

Fox “seems to be more focused on discrediting the Obama administration than in reporting what happened.” Who besides Fox is reporting on what happened?? What we do know is that the Obama administration lied to us and did so knowingly. The big question any news reporter should want to know (absent politics, of course) is WHY?

It’ll be interesting to see how much time Fox will spend on this story once the election is over. My guess is less, much less.
