Fox Stands By Its Trump Talking Points During Comey Firing Scandal

Donald Trump’s pals in Congress are reportedly getting spooked by his unhinged behavior but Fox News stands resolutely by its man.

Media Matters captured the Fox memes in 51 screen shots taken since Trump fired FBI Director James Comey four days ago and began offering a set of bizarre, shifting responses to what is turning into a debacle for him.

Here are a few of the telling ones:

Of course, Fox ran to its safe space of Republican excuses: blaming the media and Democrats:

Last night, NewsHound Richard caught Fox ignoring Trump’s contradictory explanations for firing Comey as it was the top story elsewhere:

And, as Media Matters also noted, Fox is blaming NBC anchor Lester Holt for Trump’s disastrous interview yesterday:

But there’s one subject related to the Comey firing Fox is very eager to discuss: suggesting that Trump should seize the moment to reopen the Hillary Clinton investigation into her email server:

Hard to believe at times, but these are all living, breathing human beans. And like the rest of us, each has his or her breaking point – a place where, under the right level of pressure, our brains and bodies rebel, saying ‘This far but no further’.

They must so envy Shep, the one on-air face at Fox who can get away with (occasionally) speaking the truth.
