Fox Showcases Columnist Who Wants Clinton To Withdraw

Chicago Tribune columnist John Kass wrote a column calling for Hillary Clinton to withdraw from the campaign because of the probable nothingburger of some new emails coming to the attention of the FBI. So of course, Fox News wanted its viewers to hear more from Mr. Kass.

Kass explained to Fox’s Your World viewers:

KASS: You have a possible president-elect who will be the subject of a federal criminal investigation. That is a serious matter. I’ve heard a lot of talk about who wins Pennsylvania and two points and so forth in Colorado, and all that stuff is good and fine, but after the election, if Hillary Clinton is the candidate, elect, then you have a Nixonian problem here at the beginning of her term.

He also claimed Democrats would want us to “ratify all the bleach bidding and the hammer breaking and the hiding in the e-mail server.”

Host Neil Cavuto replied, “At the very least, you’d have a cloud over her and then we could be looking at something that draws out here.”

The same could easily said about Donald Trump. In fact, he’s already facing more serious legal trouble than she is. There’s a federal lawsuit pending against him by a woman who claims he raped her when she was 13. There are also the Trump University fraud cases. There are two class actions in California and one being prosecuted by New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.

But nobody mentioned any of those cases against Trump.

Kass did have time to take a nasty swipe at Clinton: “Can you imagine her wandering through the halls of the White House like Nixon, rubbing her hands?”

Cavuto giggled and praised Kass’ column as  “very well written.” He urged readers to “read the full article” online. “It makes a powerful case,” Cavuto added. “The risks you take if a president-elect has been dragged into something that could drag on as long as an investigation could.

Meanwhile, John Dean, who served as legal counsel to Nixon and is in a position to know a thing or two about Watergate and Nixon, has written a column debunking similarities between “emailgate” and Watergate. Not only that, Dean wrote, "Mr. Trump is remarkably Nixonian, perhaps even more so than Nixon himself."

But don’t expect to see Dean explaining his conclusions on Fox News any time soon.

Meanwhile, watch Fox make hay out of Kass’ column, below, from the October 31, 2016 Your World.

Wimes popped up on Fox tonight in a soundbite either on Bret Baier’s presumably non-pundit news or on Brit Hume’s hour. She was positioned to make it look as though Clinton is not getting the African American vote. No mention that she is actually a Sanders supporter who resents Clinton for getting the nomination.

mlp,

That’s interesting. I had never heard of this Kass guy until seeing him on Fox.

Kevin, I don’t think I have seen Leslie Wimes on Fox. I’m sure it’s a fluke and he or she will show up on a show I’m watching soon.

I do have a post from Brian to edit about Doug Schoen, the Fox News Democrat who announced on Fox he can’t vote for Hillary Clinton now. He’s always been a feckless Democrat. Now he’s the Fox darling.

The other person I’m waiting for Fox News to spotlight is Leslie Wimes, a Sanders supporter who’s been promoting the meme that somehow the Clinton campaign is “in panic mode” and that “it’s over” for Clinton. Not one shred of evidence to support the claim – just Wimes still trying to push an agenda that disappeared when Sanders endorsed Clinton – namely that the Dems should have nominated Sanders, regardless of the opinions of millions more voters than agreed with Wimes.

John Kass has long been a piece of right wing garbage. After being a Tribune subscriber for nearly 30 years, I stopped my subscription a year ago. When the girl asked for my reason, I said “John Kass”.
For the last couple of months, for some strange promotion, the Trib has been delivered to my house FREE. It remains at the bottom of my driveway until garbage day, when it gets deposited where it belongs.

When will it stop? Every day seems to bring yet another jaw-dropping violation of something that America once held dear. What sort of pressure was put on Comey to force him to dive into the political swamp in a manner that would blatantly favour one of the candidates? Given that all the commentators, be they RW, LW or neutral, seem to agree that he’s a principled servant of the law, one wonders why he’s going so totally off the rails of long-established protocol aimed at preventing people like him from getting involved in politics. Are his kids at risk of being kidnapped or killed? Has he been offered a plum job in a Trumplican administration? Has he been caught with his hands in the cookie jar, somehow?

Anyway, America’s once shining beacon on the horizon is fading fast as one after the other of the country’s highly touted values and/or principles are thrown out of the window, to fall into the gutter. My financial advisor told me to sell anything even remotely connected with America if there’s any chance of Trump winning. I remain enheartened by 538’s updates. Although the race is tightening, as predicted by Hillary, herself, well over a month ago, her chances of winning are pegged at better than 75%. No time for complacency, folks!

Donald Trump is gonna get the hell outa Dodge the day after the election. So he can count his campaign contributions. I figure the Bahamas. Or if things get really hot, any island without an extradition treaty. That little funny one off of Spain. Where successful bank robbers go.
