Any regular reader knows that Fox is inordinately skewed to Catholics. Is there any other channel that features such regular visits from a Catholic priest over all other denominations? So it's no surprise that Fox would consider the white smoke emanating from the Vatican's chimney, the sign that a new Pope has been selected, as "urgent."

“Wop” was a third name used with “affection” by the lily-white haters.

@aap: Shucks, I grew up in the Tampa Bay area where people had such affectionate nicknames for anybody from Italy or South America. “Dago” and “spic” come readily to mind.
Funnily enough, one of their most detestable features was that they were “papists”, i.e. Roman Catholics.
While I’m glad Roman Catholics are now considered to be mainstream Christians, I remain dismayed to hear so many of them talk just like the Protestants who used to spit on “papists”.

Pope John XXIII ??? Methinks the name is wrong, that was the name of the Pope who called the 2nd Vatican Council during John Kennedy’s presidency. The one that Romans call “The Kind Pope”.
I reread James’ post and wonder if the source is not one of the anti-Catholic hate groups that used to leave flyers in our mail boxes during the 1960s.

While I agree that Pope Pius XII probably has a lot to answer for, for having turned his head away in order not to see. That much is proven but I doubt that he played such a determining role in guiding the nazis and the other fascist groups including the ustascia and their non-Catholic twin whose name I forget.
Fact is that people filled with hatred are quite capable – on their own – of thinking up awful things to do to others “in the name of …” (Christ, Allah or whatever). Get a few of them together and they can easily go berserk and you get a multiplication of lynch mobs.
The first step towards stopping that is to refuse to countenance any form of hate-speech. I don’t care what the First Amendment says: hate-speech is wrong.

@james Taylor:
A list worthy of the best anti-Papist flyers of old. I do believe, however, that Kent was being sarcastic in reaction to the holier-than-thou attitude of the so-called Catholics on Fox
I particularly like the case of the she-Pope Giovanna (Joan) whose true gender was discovered only when she gave birth during a procession between Santissimi Quattro Coronati and the Vatican. The official story is that she never existed (of course) but there’s a gap in the chronology of Popes just where she should have been. Hmmmm.
A tidbit to add to your anti-Papist chronicles: The incident with Pope Joan is said by some to have prompted the Church hierarchy to create a chair with a hole in the seat so that someone of appropriate rectitude (!) could give the candidates a feel just to make sure they had the proper male attributes. Wouldn’t put it past them, actually, but it’s probably not true.

My beef with the foxies is the way they ignore the fundamental principles of their own religion: love, sharing, tolerance, and all that sort of stuff. Bearing false witness is their default approach to reporting anything having to do with the dems or that man guilty of being PWB (president while black).
Pope Francis might give them a bit of grief. Vox populi in Rome is already comparing him to “The Kind Pope” (John 23rd).
I’m crossing my fingers, legs and eyes as I watch the first mass.

Fox now faces a rather sticky dilemma! It supports the Republican position that poor people are bad and leaches living off the government with alleged “free handouts” like health insurance and college loans and don’t deserve these things while advocating more tax breaks for the wealthy at the expense of the poor. And the FOX holier than thou defending of the faith role they have taken on supporting the Catholic Church. You see the new Pope Francis I is a defender of the poor and disadvantaged of all peoples of the Earth which therefore includes all those folks FOX hates on behalf of Republicans plans to get rid of them ie. the Paul Ryan Budget Plan! Now how are they going to juggle this hot potato? It should prove very amusing to us News Hound Fans! In case anyone thinks I am mean anti-Catholic forget that because I am Catholic by birth BUT an American one that thinks for himself.

Let us answer Freedom Rings’ question.
We don’t hate the Catholic church. We hate the hypocrisy of the church.
We have a serious problem with a church that protects pedophile priests over innocent children. Yes, innocent children who are molested by grown men hiding behind the cloth. These children’s lives are forever ruined by these vultures who prey on children.
The Fox “News” so-called hosts refuses to discuss the pedophilia inside the church. They too, protect these child molesters. By the way, they are NOT men of God, they are child MOLESTERS.
We will not allow these heretics inside the Catholic church shuffle these child molesters from one church to another. We will call them to the carpet.
We got a question for Freedom. Why is Fox “News” refusing to discuss pedophile priests in the Catholic church?

Out of curiosity, just how many of the talking heads at FOX “news” are Catholic anyway? It sure seems like there’s a lot of Catholics there and I think it colors their news coverage far too much (as do some of my Southern Baptist relatives who are starting to feel that FOX “news” is “shoving too much Catholic stuff down their throats” (that’s their words). If FOX “news” is starting to tick these folks off (as they are fervent FOX “news” viewers), then FOX might have a bit of a problem on its hands. LOL!
The reason I ask now about the number of Catholics on air at FOX “news” is that this morning I heard the female anchor on “Happening Now” (Jenna Lee perhaps?) comment on the Papal vote by saying that “WE could have a new Pope soon”. My immediate family and I are not Catholic so I would never say “we” when talking about there being a new Pope. I would say the Catholic Church will soon have a new Pope. So I was wondering if she was another FOX “news” Catholic too. I guess I’m just getting a little tired of hearing the Cathoic Church talked about on F&F in overly-glowing terms without the talking heads (like Daddy Douchey, Dick3, Kilmeade, Ingraham, etc.) giving a thought about their obvious personal biases and how they let it influence the stories they report. Personally, I would like the news to have a more secular feel but clearly those at FOX “news” do not. Not only is the network an arm of the GOP but it seems to be a PR outlet for the Catholic Church too.

These cafeteria Catholics at this fraudulent “news” outlet are overjoyed of a new Pope. Based on their own behavior outside the studio, they don’t practice what is taught to them. All of them should be ex-communicated based on their behavior.

Well I guess we’re all just going to have to wait to see if this meets with Bill O’Reilly’s approval before any of us can render an opinion. Stand By.
