Fox News did not wait long before trotting out one of their African American Black Attackers to blame “things like” President Obama, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Black Lives Matter and the Congressional Black Caucus for the shooting deaths of five Dallas police officers and the wounding of seven more.
Fox News has a history of using African American contributor David Webb to criticize other African Americans (presumably in a ridiculous effort to inoculate itself from charges of racism). So it was no surprise that Webb got right to it.
WEBB: What’s played out here is not just a tragedy, what happened last night, but what has fostered this environment. And we don’t know the exact motivations of these shooters right now …but we do know that an environment of anti-cop, hate cops, kill cops has been fostered by political leaders, by many in the media in positions of influence, supported by things like President Obama, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, the Black Lives Matter, the CBC, the “hands up, don’t shoot” meme that has gone on since Ferguson.
And we have to realize that that fosters an environment that either some within that area of activity or others will take advantage of it and peaceful protesters, they’re not the issue. It’s their right and I support it and bad shoots are issues to be dealt with but this was the worst of all kinds because with willful disregard, they targeted cops, as Rod Wheeler said, and then possibly could have injured so many more.
In case anyone missed the message, the lower third blared, “’IT WAS INEVITABLE.’ WEBB: BLACK LIVES MATTER WAS A DRIVING FORCE”
Later, cohost Heather Childers, a birther, prodded Webb for more politicization by “asking” him what he’d like to hear from President Obama.
Webb took the cue, though he made a show of reluctance.
WEBB: I have to say that I don’t want to get too much into the politics of this but I have to be realistic, as many should, and realize that the president has little or no credibility when it comes to these issues. When it comes to what has come out of the Congressional Black Caucus, the presumptive nominee of the Democrat Party, the president, Bernie Sanders, other major political leaders on the left – they have helped foster this environment and the president and his Department of Justice have also, under Eric Holder, now under the current attorney general, have actually helped foster this environment with their constant demeanor when it comes to dealing with these issues, honestly.
Childers did her part for the cause by helping to validate Webb. “Yeah,” she agreed. “And speaking out before these investigations are even complete. As you mentioned, the two shootings from last week.”
Of course, Fox doesn’t need to wait for any investigations to be complete before it starts pointing fingers. Heck, Fox doesn’t even wait for investigations to begin.
Watch the exploitation below, from Fox’s July 8 coverage of the Dallas shootings.
One of the oddities about this election is how many people I have spent years criticizing and/or disliking suddenly sound so reasonable and appealing on the subject of Trump.
I have been checking in on RedState recently (the site for your more discerning righties) and they are stridently anti-Trump, mostly for the same reasons we are, but also because he’s too much the RINO for their liking. Most of the Trump-related articles are factual, well thought out and would not be out of place here or on HuffPost etc. But sitting right next to them are Obama Horrid Socialist stories, deranged Clinton hatred stuff… all the usual RW guff that Fox feeds them every hour of the day.
Obviously, this propensity to swallow the unswallowable is not just a trait of right-wingers – we have seen it with religious groups, including the jihadis, communist freaks in Cambodia, China, South America etc, Hutus in Rwanda, Nazis in Germany and still popping up with depressing regularity in so-called civilised countries. All working themselves up into a lather of murderous hate against the unspeakable ‘other’.
Why, why oh why.
This is a case of Fox being so blatantly dishonest I don’t even think the zombies addicted to the network can miss the contradictions.
Bob, you’ve got your act refined down to a cartoon character. Take it on the road.
