Only on Fox News would a supposedly objective anchor openly opine that he’s “not a big backer” of a lot of Bernie Sanders’ “programs and ideas.”
The “Cavuto on Business” show does not bill itself as an opinion show. FoxNews.com says it “provides information on how you can make and hold onto your money. “ Host Neil Cavuto is described as “senior vice president, managing editor and anchor for both FOX News Channel (FNC) and FOX Business Network (FBN). …Additionally, Cavuto oversees business news content for both networks.”
That doesn’t sound like someone who is supposed to be an opinion host. But during a discussion about the national debt, Cavuto said the following about Sanders:
CAVUTO: Why is he so popular? Because he’s tapping a rage a lot of people feel they’re getting the short edge of the stick. Believe me, I’m not a big backer of a lot of his programs and ideas and taxing up the yin-yang, but the fact is that is resonating with a lot of folks who are just annoyed.
A straight news anchor would not have gratuitously offered his opinion of a candidate’s policies and tax proposals.
