The House of Representatives will almost certainly impeach Donald Trump today or, more accurately, this evening.
NOTE: This post will stay at the top of the page until 8 PM but there will be at least one later post today that will appear underneath it.
I’ll be dipping in and out of the proceedings.
According to Brian Stelter, Fox’s coverage will begin at 9 AM. Bret Baier and Chris Wallace will lead the coverage with contributions from Martha MacCallum, Bill Hemmer and Julie Banderas. “Constitutional expertise and legal commentary” are to be provided by Andrew McCarthy and Trey Gowdy.
Apparently, the commentary of Fox’s senior judicial analyst, Andrew Napolitano, who just happens to believe Trump deserves impeachment, will not be a part of the coverage.
Politico predicts the final vote will occur between 6:30 and 7:30 PM ET.

John McKee, Adam Schiff does an awesome job but he’s not all that progressive. I think he’d be a great attorney general, though. I’d vote for Schiff over Trump in a heartbeat though.

Schiff has definitely been the stand-out right through this process, Ellen. I like Swalwell, but he’s got a way to go to match Adam. I would love to see him as the 47th President.

Watching Fox News. They’ve thrown in the towel on the inevitability of the impeachment so they’re running one pundit after another parroting the White House and #MoscowMitch.
Up now Ed Rollins saying, essentially, POTUS is the ‘most powerful man on Earth’ so how can he abuse power? Then he goes on to say this is going to happen every 4 years to presidents. On cue, Fox News quotes a breaking Trump tweet saying essentially the same thing: this should not happen to another president.

Back to that “piece of evidence” silliness, the GOPers are willfully ignoring the fact that NOT ONE of the 17 fact witnesses provided any evidence that the president did NOT try to shake down Zelensky.
They are also willfully ignoring the fact that NONE of the witnesses that might have provided evidence to the contrary were PREVENTED from testifying by … the defendant, Donald John Trump.
That sort of behaviour would have earned me a whole day standing in the corner with a dunce cap on my head during primary school.
