At the end of last night’s Hannity segment with Republican Congressmen Darrell Issa and Jason Chaffetz, a Romney surrogate, Sean Hannity dropped a question that made it clear the three of them were using the tragedy at Benghazi as political fodder. Just in case you had a doubt.
Hannity: I’d like to see that (surveillance) video. Any chance we get to see it before the election? Hear the audio?
Chaffetz: I hope so. We should. We should.
Issa: Only if it’s leaked to us.
Think he was dropping a hint?
Chaffetz: The president said he would. He said he’d show it as the information is out there.
Hannity: Well, let’s see, Mr. President Transparency. Mr. President, let the American people see this. Let’s get this in real time.
Yeah, let’s get this in “real time” so that we can use it to affect the election!
The pin drops. Do you realise how damaging that sort of statement can be to the reputation of the USA as a beacon for the world?"
The constitution says “all men are created equal” not “all citizens are created equal” so if they are not to be given the same rights, and must be treated as enemy combatants as you claim, they should be subjected to Geneva Convention laws.
Also, yellow cake is uranium oxide. It’s neither pure uranium nor a weapon or even a raw material for WMD. The yellow cake was secured since 1991 and not something Iraq purchased afterwards. Get your facts straight! Everything you say here is factually challenged.
We may have drones but they’re not as effective as you’d like to believe them to be. What was happening was real life, not a Schwartzenegger film (e.g. where he’s wearing practically every fancy weapon ever invented by the scriptwriters but ends up using his fists to beat the bejezus out of fifteen or more enemy soldiers).
May I ask you (rhetorically): how long did it take to find out about the warnings that had been ignored prior to 9/11 in 2001? My recall is that the truth emerged after a couple of years. Not a peep on Fox. And that was an event that happened on American soil, not in another country halfway ’round the globe.
As I see it, Fox (and CNN aka FoxLite) are so eager to slam/slur Obama that they’re taking each and every tidbit and interpreting furiously (oh, those expressions of outrage!) it in the least positive light until they realise that it’s not sticking to the wall either. Then they pass on to the next tidbit.
Thats gossip-mongering, not journalism. Always my own personal opinion, of course.
Mine was a lot longer but it grew a pair of legs during the last spring-cleaning session. It’s somewhere around here, but where?
One case that still bugs me is not a pure case of invention; more a case of omission. I’m referring to the fact that – for almost ten years – Fox failed to report what the whole world had known for years, namely: there were no WMDs in Iraq. Heard them admit that for the first time about three months ago, sort of off-handedly. Haven’t heard anything of the sort since then but, then, I’m not glued to that channel. I watch them more for the fun of detecting their tricks (cf. the book entitled “Outfoxed”).
I do find it simply astonishing that the foxies are so surprised that Colin Powell supports Obama. He was really and truly deceived by the administration he served during the early 2000s.
The pin drops. Do you realise how damaging that sort of statement can be to the reputation of the USA as a beacon for the world?
So, you want to be loose with facts and we should give you a pass? When you say a factually challenged statement, don’t expect people to say you’re right. I am assuming you never went to university; otherwise you’d know that’s not how it works. You are graded on what you say/do not on the assumption you meant to say something “correct” when your actual words are wild exaggerations.
The hell of the last 4 years is way better than the 8 under Bush, unless you were under a rock.
Your racism exposes you as a right wing nut. I didn’t ask you your thoughts on Sharia (which I am sure you know nothing about) but rather on people.
Don’t claim you’re not a right-winger. If you do, you’ll get asked about your views on gays, African Americans, Muslims, and Arabs. Your answers will quickly reveal your ideology.
CBO said it saves money and all facts demonstrate Obama had no super majority for even 1 month. Clear from your silly attack on Fox boogey man Soros you are hooked on Fox beyond hope for cure. You write statements which are false (quoting CBO), make accusations which can’t back up (Obama signing rights away at the UN), and claim to have any facts on your side. You don’t, Go away!
By the way, Fox lied a lot in the past and posted discredited videos and never retracted them (ACORN pimp tapes for one). They also put D instead of R when a republican does something criminal or immoral and then claim it’s an “accident” yet it keeps happening. “Pollsters” they have (Frank Luntz) are partisan hacks who stalk up people decidedly conservative and pretend they represent America. They advance lies such as the birther issue and Secret Muslim (racist) non-sense.
“@<a class=“tweet-url username” href=“http://twitter.com/intent/user?screen_name=nayef”>nayef: I forgot to thank you for the link from âfactcheckâ which is greatly subsidized by ultra rich, ultra liberal George Soros. You know George, heâs the one that enjoys destroying whole countries economies. And no, iâm not going to goole to pull up the link to prove it."
Thanks, Doug.
That’s one for the “Wingnut HOF Quote Thread” in the forum . . .
.
Then, you claim now that you’re saying he’s “signing away” not “signed” so another play on words. Do tell, what rights is Obama “signing away” now? Happy now? Now that my question is 100% mirror image if your stupid claims, answer!
So what where you live? He won elections and that’s final. The point here is SUPERMAJORITY not whether Franken won fairly or not. Who’s nit-picking now? Point is: your initial statement Obama held 60 votes at the senate is not true.
“you are nit-picking at my words and not the meaning behind them.”
Actually, you are not able to express your opinions, and that’s your problem not mine. If you say: CBO said (as fact) the bill will bankrupt us in no time, then that’s what you said, and will be held for exactly what you say. Don’t say it if you don’t mean it or it’s not true. You’re being a snake now.
Forbes link? Any more right wing than that? They even call it “Obamacare” for objectivity in the article. Pathetic!

The bill saves money.
“The CBO also said that repealing the healthcare law – a move advocated by Republicans – would increase the deficit over the next decade by $109 billion. The law’s revenue increases and spending cuts total more than the cost of expanding coverage to the uninsured, the CBO said.”
“But was it harsh interrogation that led to the critical information? The identity and whereabouts of the courier came to light only years later, after the enhanced interrogation had stopped.”
So if you torture someone today, and get information 5 years later, you’re just not being serious. Your only proof is what Panetta wants to say to cover himself legally.
“May I remind you in his first 2 years he had a super majority and the republicans couldnât have stopped him if they tried. You know that. Itâs a fact.”
May I remind you that if you weren’t watching Fox all the time you’d know that Al Franken was not confirmed until the GOP was done contesting his win and the death of Ted Kennedy also occurred early on, depriving Obama of 60 senate votes. Robert Byrd was in hospital for a long time too. The “super majority” never existed for 2 years.

“Civilian courts??? For military/terrorist war crimes” Seriously?"
Yes, seriously. Unless they are proven to be terrorists, they are innocent until proven otherwise. Under Bush, tens if not hundreds were released from Gitmo due to lack of evidence. Additionally, Bush refused to abide by Geneva conventions on the basis they are not soldiers part of a regular army, so the only option is they are treated as civilians. You can’t have it both ways.
“The CBO is public record, not Fox lies. Maybe they didnât use those exact words âwill bankrupt us in no timeâ but thatâs the bottom line.”
So, you admit it won’t “bankrupt” anyone in no time? Then why did you make the silly claim? So, exactly, what words did the CBO use that ticked you off?
I am still waiting to know what rights Obama signed off at the UN; unless it’s like your silly CBO claim LOL
http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/42880435/ns/today-today_news/t/cia-chief-waterboarding-aided-bin-laden-raid/#.UI8bEIZlhd8
WASHINGTON â Intelligence garnered from waterboarded detainees was used to track down al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden and kill him, CIA Chief Leon Panetta told NBC News on Tuesday. “Enhanced interrogation techniques” were used to extract information that led to the mission’s success, Panetta said during an interview with anchor Brian Williams. Those techniques included waterboarding, he acknowledged.
Panetta, who in a 2009 CIA confirmation hearing declared “waterboarding is torture and it’s wrong,” said Tuesday that debate about its use will continue.
“Whether we would have gotten the same information through other approaches I think is always gonna be an open question,” Panetta said.
“In the intelligence business you work from a lot of sources of information and that was true here,” Panetta said. “We had a multiple source â a multiple series of sources â that provided information with regards to the situation. Clearly some of it came from detainees and the interrogation of detainees but we also had information from other sources as well.”
Panetta’s comments hours after Attorney General Eric Holder defended as lawful Tuesday the intelligence gathering and raid that resulted in the death of al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden.
The raid was "lawful, legitimate and appropriate in every way. The people who were responsible for that action, both in the decision making and the effecting of that decision, handled themselves I think quite well,’’ Holder told the House Judiciary Committee.
You claim not to be a Fox zombie yet you repeated all their lies.
" CBO (when they finally got the real figures) tell us will bankrupt us in no time flat."
Any proof/link to back up that claim?
“He promised to close Git-Mo, itâs still open.”
The GOP didn’t go along closing it, but torture was ended and trials in civilian courts commenced.
“He promised to end the warsâ¦.also telling the terrorists when they can resume activitiesâ¦.which they are already in Iraq.”
What the hell are you trying to say?
“He has lost more troops in 3 1/2 years in Afganistan than Bush did in 8 years.”
Any proof/link to back up that claim?
“He is signing away our rights to the UN.”
Another Fox meme that is dumb. First, explain to me exactly what rights he “signed” away because I don’t recall any signing ceremonies between the US and UN. Second of all, you brain-dead, the US is one of only 5 nations with veto power, which allows the US to exercise dictatorial powers over smaller nations who do not even have a vote at the Security Council.
“you donât give him credit for Bin Laden when it was 7 years of intelligence from Bush/Cheney and yes, waterboarding 3 people”
Another Fox lie. In fact, torture got Khalid to give out the wrong information.
While you whine liberals give opinions but no facts, your entire rant was precisely opinion which you pretended to be fact.
I have no problems with the foxies keeping something in the news. My problem with them is that they invent stuff and ignore the experts in order to do so. They are so incredibly slanted in their so-called “reporting” (which is not reporting) that I keep expecting them to slide downwards out of the screen. Only my personal opinion, of course.
FYI, both Condolezzza Rice (Secretary of State under President GWBush) and General Michael Hayden (Director of CIA between 1999 and 2005, i.e. mostly under President GWBush) felt that it was better to wait for more information before deciding anything.
Fox News has not re-aired their interviews but you can call them up on this blog.
Instead of real experts (e.g. the likes of C. Rice and Hayden) Fox News prefers to call on former field operatives who cannot be expected to have the full picture on anything. I sometimes wonder if any of them might not have been fired as part of the overhaul of the CIA for which General Hayden is credited?
Such a shame Obama didn’t get a communicae from the leader of the group five minutes before he was about to go after the wrong country- like Bush did. Maybe if that happened, Evan would approve- because God forbid he allow a discussion comparing this to how Bush handled it.
Republicans voting to defund Embassy security.
Mitt Romney smirking and trying not to laugh when talking about the dead people.
Republicans insulting a sitting president during the immediate aftermath of a crisis.
Republicans trying to cherrypick what elements of the story are relevant.
Republicans actually saying the candidate speak version of “fuck the muslims!” when the role of that video’s protest riots was debated.
Crying about free speech when warrants for Bassaly Nakoula and Steve Klein were issued after they admitted they made those videos entirely to provoke violence.
Trying to put words into the mouths of ambassadors and politicians that wouldn’t say the line they wanted.
Telling other Republicans who admitted to the people this is a pack of lies, and that the ones doing it need to stop to shut up.
If the left was as eager to politicize this as the right, half the GOP would be looking at 4% approval ratings. The other half would be lucky to have that.
Just look at the fucking morons that Fox has paraded on the screen 24/7 in an attempt to generate an election threatening controversy and try to pretend that Fox is doing the correct thing. The Republicans should be proud of themselves, eh?
There is NO cover-up except in the minds of Fox who keep asking excessive amount of questions.
“Iâm not interested in talking about OTHER events. Iâm interesting in answers about this event.”
There! Your hypocrisy is established with words from your own mouth. Care to explain why ONLY this event is SO important to you while attacks which happened under Bush, including the big one, get a pass?
Go look up how many embassy attacks took place while Bush was president and see how reactions were quite different from this one. This is clearly a witch hunt. Are you really trying to justify witch hunts?
Did you notice that Romney didn’t even bring up Benghazi during the foreign policy debate? That’s because he knows this story has it’s own legs to run on, and Obama gave them to it by using lawyer speak and parading the anti-muslim video theory.
Nice try!
