I managed to see a rerun of the President’s speech before going out and haven’t yet seen the others.
Before doing that, I wanted to say that, to me, the President came across as a different man with respect to 2004 and 2008: more mature and more substantial, more solid and more resolute. As though the past four years has had a steadying effect on him.
And he’s right, as truman noted, about this election being about choosing between: A) the “me-first-me-only” politicians who say outright that they want roll back the conquests of over 60 years (or is it over 200?); and B) the “we-are-in-this-together” politicians who promise not to slam the door shut in the faces of others be it for opportunity or care in time of need. Politicians in both cases, but what a difference in terms of what will happens to ordinary people.
Third comment: the reps say that tax cuts for the rich will create jobs …. can someone tell me what sort of jobs are likely to be created by people who stash their cash away in off-shore accounts? My idea is “not many, if any”.
Saw a few minutes of FNC afterwards and have only two things to say: A) their approach to fact checking is to present a whole different set of numbers (cut and paste, no analysis or rebuttal); and B) they’re bitching about the President not providing more detail: methinks they wanted him to read out the names, birth dates and addresses of each and every person who’s now back in employment. What had need saying on that front had already been said!

Iâm very pleased with the way our convention went. I felt as if we got our message successfully across. Our speakers were fantastic and each did a very good job of connecting with the America public.
Gabby Giffords reciting the Pledge of Allegiance was uplifting.
Of course Iâm bias towards my party, but watching the Republicans last week they came across to me as corporate board meeting discussing how they could get bigger bonuses for themselves.
The events of the past week reminded me why Iâm so proud to be a member of the Democratic Party. Now itâs up to all of us to vote, and work to do whatever we can to help re-elect our President.

President Obama destroyed The Mitt, Christie, Rubio and Eastwood all in one sweep.
Obama is a better speaker than The Mitt and Handout Hannocchio combined. Have you ever heard Hannocchio speak to an audience? If you have the unpleasure of hearing him speak, bring a book to read so you won’t doze off.

I messed up recording Fox’s post-speech discussion. I’ve got the recorder going now and will post tomorrow. Meanwhile, I’m putting the finishing touches on yet another slur against Sandra Fluke by “looking out for you” O’Reilly.

Obama’s “you did that” refrain sort of a response to “you didn’t build that.”

I think Obama is totally outclassing Romney and making him look like an amateur.

That’s okay if they want to pick it apart, it keeps them off the streets at night.

Well done, indeed! Not that Fox isn’t picking him apart, of course.

Do you think Biden will say this is a big effing deal?
