I've been so absorbed watching Castro, Duckworth and Michelle, I forgot to open up this thread. Thoughts? Comments?

Bemused: The RNC was full of that kind of stuff… but Fox News gave it a pass, and the “librul biased” media didn’t give it much, other than CNN giving a couple segments to the woman in your link because she worked for them.
The DNC is already much better behaved, and misconduct stories that come with proof so far is RW reporters and North Carolina Tea Party.

Found a link for that rumour about white people throwing peanuts at a black person:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/peanuts-thrown-at-black-cnn-camerawoman-covering-gop-convention-shes-not-surprised/2012/08/30/b079d662-f2ee-11e1-b74c-84ed55e0300b_story.html
Seems it happened after all. Security escorted them out and the GOP has apologised. Even they realised that true Republicans would not be amused.

Joe: Everyone knew what she planned to talk about, the only surprise was the wording. Kinda like with Mitt- everyone knew his topics list, they called he would stick to it.
Anyhow, I’m out. Nite.

Bemused: *Whaaaat? Where can I recover that footage? *
At the RNC; as usual, the left’s above this kind of behaviour, the right isn’t. The instances of misbehavour that are rumoured, not proven right now?
Reports say it was conservatives- Fox News set up the instances of hate speech, Teabagger types were the ones trying to provoke things physically.
Notes for cyberstalking idiots: Note the words rumoured, not proven. If there was a video in the media’s hot little hands, don’t you think Fox News would be lying about who did it by now?

Michelle was very good, but somewhat predictable.
For me, the highlight was Julian Castro… never heard him before. Great speech, touching shots of his wife, daughter. (For bemused: virtually all video comes from pool feeds; if every website had its own cameras there, there’d be no room for delegates.
Anyway, Castro reminded me of Obama 8 years ago. Could we be seeing him in 2016? Imagine the bile rising up in Hannity’s gut: another 4 years of a mixed-race president (and his blacker wife) followed by a son of Mexican Americans! Hannity would be praying to be transported back in time, along with his arsenal of AK-47s, to the moment Castro’s grandmother crossed the border).Didn’t the slanthead have some OJT recently with the Minutemen in Arizona?
BTW Ellen et. al., can we find something other than “hit it out of the park?” This overused expression has been all over the web for more than a week. And we’ve still got 3 more days of the DNC.

Found Ms Obama’s address on the following:
http://mashable.com/2012/09/05/michelle-obama-speech/
I don’t know who runs that site but thought the video was well done, with lots of great shots of people in the audience.
Michelle truly hit it out of the ball park; listeners were mesmerised, totally incapable of performing the ritualistic and somewhat forced interruptions one expects on these occasions. Definitely not the cheerleading school of politics.
My favourite take (paraphrasing): “when you walk through that door of opportunity, do not slam it behind you.”
My second favourite take (paraphrasing): “success is not about the money you make but the difference you make in people’s lives.”
Thanx Michelle

Missed Ms. Obama’s address so decided to look for it on the web: googling her name “Michelle Obama” got me a neat example of how a sapient choice of words can convey totally different impressions:
- FNC: “Michelle Obama ‘touts’ husband’s humble roots …”
- Washington Post: “Michelle Obama ‘lauds’ husband’s values, vision …”
A couple of days ago, Megyn Kelly pulled a smear while quoting the President’s aides. They’d apparently said that the President’s speech was ready and that he was at the ‘tinkering stage’ (or ‘was tinkering with it’, anyway something like that). Megyn placed a dripping-with-disdain emphasis on the word “tinker” that made me jump. Luckily I saw the chyron before flaming: it used the word “working on” as FNC has always done for Romney.
What I’m getting at is that the talking heads at Fox seem to be vying with each other in the making of one-off snide remarks (cfr. Cavuto’s comparison of the DNC logo with the Pepsi logo).
Insidious and dishonest to the bitter end.
Pink slips may have started to sprout in the beds at FNC.

12:35am ET interview with Jason Altmire (D-PA) and Greta is STILL obsessing over the lack of “God” in the Dem platform. Give it a rest already, Greta. Geez.

I missed MIchelle, due to bad signal. But I caught a lot of the rest. Good speeches so far, much better attitude from goers than at the RNC. At the very least, no death threats or black people being pelted with peanuts.
The low point I saw was Gretchen Carlson setting up hateful attacks in her interviews. When she set up Mallory Factor’s comments, I thought I was gonna be sick.

Greta Van Susteren just asked if it was “political suicide” for Dems to take out “God” from their platform. Yeah, such suicide they just had a smash hit with a string of speakers.

And Republican Congressman Jason Chafetz just happens to be on hand to provide “perspective” from the other side… And Greta’s still talking about “God” being taken out of the platform.

Greta is pretty much ignoring Michelle Obama’s speech in order to fixate on removing “God” out of the platform.

It seems to me there was way more enthusiasm for Michelle Obama than Ann Romney.

I think this is a fabulous opening for the Dems. I hope they can keep it up… and there’s no reason not to think they will.

Pretty hilarious watching Fox Newsies fall over themselves looking for ways to poke at Michelle Obama’s speech.
