After Jeb Bush announced he would not support Donald Trump, Fox went to work trying to convince voters not to follow suit.
On Your World, Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, a former Jeb Bush supporter now backing Trump, crowed about Trump’s success by misrepresenting his poll numbers.
BONDI: I think a lot of some people in the media, I think a lot of political insiders don’t like Donald Trump, but I think what matters right now, the American people do, and they’re speaking clearly and they’re speaking very loudly.
[…]
Donald isn’t winning over elected officials, Donald’s winning over the American people. They’re the people that are out there voting, they’re the people that are disenchanted with what’s happening in our country right now. They are the people who believe in the man, and they’re the people who have overwhelmingly voted for him, and are making him our nominee.
Actually, people like Trump so much that he trails Hillary Clinton by an average of 6.4 points and by double digits in many polls. In a recent CNN poll, Clinton leads Trump on every issue except the economy. What poll did Bondi look at? Of course, Cavuto didn’t challenge her claim.
Instead, Cavuto ripped Republicans who won’t endorse Trump. “These guys are all sounding like babies and whiners,” Cavuto said. “They didn’t win, I understand that. The type of candidate they wanted to win didn’t win, I understand that, but he did get the overwhelming vote. […] To walk out and have a snit fit, no pun intended, sounds to me to be not very adult-like.”
