On the August 15 Your World, Senator John McCain and former CBO director Doug Holtz-Eakin discussed entitlements. Host Neil Cavuto did the Republican spinning for them. “There’s a lot of controversy and mudslinging back and forth because you dare talk about the third rail of politics, reigning in the growth of entitlements, and that’s all Congressman Ryan’s been talking about with his plan, just reigning in the growth, not ending it.”
McCain said about the Obama administration, “They have no plan, 2024 is the end of Medicare… What is their plan to save Medicare? They have none, only attack and show clips of somebody dumping Grandma off a cliff.”
Holtz-Eakin praised Ryan for “having an adult conversation” while he joined in the whitewashing of Ryan’s plan.
What nobody mentioned in the “adult conversation” are these inconvenient-to-Republicans facts: the Obama plan increases health care for seniors, cuts waste, fraud, and abuse, and extends Medicare’s life 8 years. The Romney plan raises the age to 67, and you will pay $1200 more out of pocket by 2030, and $5900 by 2050.
McCain was also echoed Sarah Palin’s suggestion that Vice President Joe Biden should be replaced by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Isn’t it nice of all these Republicans to offer campaign advice to President Obama?
