Fox Oohs and Aahs Endlessly Over Obama’s Prayer-Breakfast Critic
Tune in to Fox News at any time in the past few days and you’d have heard someone drooling over the latest conservative hero – Benjamin Carson, the physician who lectured President Obama at the supposedly non-partisan National Prayer Breakfast last Thursday.
Dr. Carson, a pediatric neurosurgeon at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, spoke for more than 25 minutes, with the President sitting by his side. In between jokes and personal stories (such as those about his impoverished childhood as the son of a single mother) he spoke about political correctness and how it had made people afraid to say even “Merry Christmas”; he warned that America was in the midst of moral decline and was going the way of Rome; he worried about the national debt; he advocated a flat tax, something like the Biblical “tithing” system; and he spoke in favor of medical savings accounts that you would pay into from birth. He also spoke passionately in favor of education for all, but Fox hasn't picked this up too much.

Brit Hume visited The O’Reilly Factor last night for what purported to be a preview of President Obama’s State of the Union address tonight. But, as is almost always the case with Fox when the subject is Obama, the real purpose seemed to be a pretext for taking shots at him. In this case, Hume suggested that President Obama is more interested in "income equality" for those 47% takers than in creating a good environment for the makers.
Read moreOn Fox & Friends: Peter Johnson Jr. Endorses Cardinal Dolan For Pope!
Now that Pope Benedict is "pulling a Palin," there is a lot of speculation as to who will be sporting the next pair of papal Prada pumps. The papal throne is still warm and Fox News has already thrown its support to their very special pal, Cardinal Timothy Dolan who, given the validation that Fox News provided for the bishop's opposition to the HHS birth control mandate, should have Roger Ailes' statue on the altar of St. Patrick's Cathedral! Brian Kilmeade said that when it comes to charisma and charm, nobody does it better than Dolan. Fox priest Fr. Jonathan Morris praised Dolan as "a very holy man." Fox veep John Moody effused that Dolan is "a wonderful man" whose elevation to the papacy would be a cause for celebration. Not to be outdone in the Dolan for Pope department, is Dolan's close pal, Peter Johnson Jr. who, in speaking with the equally enthused Steve Doocy, was positively bursting with praise for the awesome Dolan.
Read moreFox & Friends: Obama Uses Drones Because ‘He Doesn’t Have The Courage’ To Put Terrorists On Trial
Let me assure you that President Obama’s drone program makes me extremely uneasy. But there’s absolutely no evidence for Judge Andrew Napolitano’s accusation that the purpose of the program is for Obama’s political expediency or that it’s because “he doesn’t have the courage” to put terrorists on trial in Guantanamo Bay. Yet, that’s what Napolitano said on Fox & Friends this morning. Predictably, there was no challenge from host Brian Kilmeade, even though he made clear his support for the drone program.

Didn't you just know this was bound to happen? Sunday morning (2/10/13), on Fox & Friends Weekend, the Curvy Couch Crew lamented the internet support for suspected cop-killer Christopher Dorner. Instead of doing any actual investigation into the causes or noting that he's not the only suspected mass murderer to garner internet fans, the hosts waved away his accusations of police brutality and racism and suggested African Americans were using race to justify violence. Co-Host Tucker Carlson even suggested that Rep. Maxine Waters is a likely supporter of Dorner.
Read moreRoger Ailes Reveals His Partisan Agenda With Fox News Latino
Roger Ailes did an interview in the New Republic and it’s astonishing how clearly and unmistakably he let slip how he operates as a Republican apparatchik. Whether it was deliberate or not, Ailes revealed that Fox News Latino is an outreach from the Republican Party to Hispanics. And while he was at it, he accused President Obama of being “too busy getting the middle class to hate rich people, blacks to hate whites" and "trying to get everybody to hate each other.”
Read moreRove’s Retort: He’s Not Anti-Tea Party, He Just Wants Good Candidates
Moderation madness at Fox? I don't think so, gentle reader. As my colleague Ellen just pointed out, frequent Fox contributor Karl Rove is in big trouble over his new super PAC, the Conservative Victory Project, designed to keep controversial conservatives from winning Senate primaries. Now Rove is all over the place trying to do damage control. Thursday night he was on the Factor, assuring Bill O’Reilly that he was no squishy RINO moderate but a dedicated supporter of Tea Party candidates.

That the alleged "Fair & Balanced" Fox News is a propaganda vehicle for the conservative positions of the Catholic Church isn't a surprise given that, along with the many Catholics in the ranks of *Fox hosts, there is a conservative Catholic near the top of the Fox News hierarchy. John Moody, Fox News Executive Vice President and executive editor is a staunch conservative Catholic who once wrote an article about how offended he was by Rev. Jeremiah Wright's black liberation theology. And as Fox's top RC, he used the alleged Fox News show "America's Newsroom," today, to discuss Pope Benedict's resignation and, in so doing, positively gush over the awesomeness of the Pope. Alleged news host and conservative Catholic Martha MacCallum shared the love.
Read moreFox News Civil War: Huckabee Aims At Rove
Karl Rove may have returned to his role as neutral analyst on Fox News but anyone who knows anything about politics also knows that he has formed a new SuperPac designed to prevent “non-electable” Republicans (think Todd Akin and Christine O’Donnell) from getting nominated. That has provoked long-simmering Republican resentments against Rove to erupt. Saturday night, Mike Huckabee took to the Fox News airwaves and went straight after "some people in the conservative movement and the Republican Party" who "think our way forward is to manipulate the primary process."
Read moreFox Friends & Fr. Jonathan Morris Ignore Catholic Pedophilia Scandal In Discussing Pope's Resignation
The news of Pope Benedict's surprise resignation topped the chart on this morning's news shows. And while some of the discussion involved questions surrounding the Pope's health, there was more than a mention of the global and systemic Catholic clergy sexual abuse scandal which has enveloped not only the papacy of Benedict, but his role as a bishop in Germany and head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. But in the sacred sanctuary of Fox & Friends, neither the "Friends" nor Fox's resident clergyman Fr. Jonathan Morris mentioned this stain on the papacy which, in addition to sexual abuse, includes allegations of Vatican corruption. Interesting.
