Fox News Interrupts Sterling Coverage For Benghazi And IRS
Today, as the rest of the country digested the news that the NBA banned LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling for life, fined him $2.5 million and would work to force him to sell the team, Fox News spent a few minutes discussing it before moving on to a “Fox News Alert” with inconsequential news about Benghazi.

During the Fox abetted outrage over Brandeis U's revocation of an honorary degree for Islam critic Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Fox's "The Five" weighed in with their usual bucket of anti-Islamic bile. Andrea Tantaros whined about the evils of radical Islam and how "far left" feminists are not standing up for Ms. Ali's freedom of speech. She cited Brandeis' belief that Ali's views do fit their core values and, in engaging in her standard Islamophobia, asked if Brandeis' core values include persecuting homosexuality "because that's what Islam does." (Actually, Islam's teaching on homosexuality is no different from evangelical Christianity and Catholicism) But Tantaros said something else which was intriguing. In suggesting that she and Ali have something in common, she said that she has spoken about "radical Islam" at colleges where she will never be invited back. And that, according to what I discovered, was with good reason

As the defender of the Christian (conservative that is, none of that gay accepting liberal Protestant apostasy) faith, Fox News has no qualms about attacking those who dare to push back against those who don't believe in the separation of church and state. Meanwhile, the revere any group that supports the First Amendment rights of Christians. In smearing "atheist" groups who oppose what they believe are unconstitutional Christian incursions into the public square, Fox is able to promote their popular godless atheists are destroying this "Christian nation" meme. Along with the Freedom From Religion Foundation, the Military Religious Freedom Foundation and its head, Mikey Weinstein are targets of Fox's righteous Christian wrath. Cliven Bundy's racist comments ripped the scab off of the festering racism that, in 2014, seems to be associated with the Republican Party and its mouthpiece Fox News which makes millions off of its audience's fear and loathing of those scary black "takers." After Bundy's commentary ended his more than 15 minutes of Fox fame, another aging, rich white guy found himself in a bit of a situation involving what appear to be racist comments caught on tape. So, in a desperate move to show that not all aging, rich white guys are associated with the GOP, Fox Nation has posted, as a great, big lede on its website - "Clippers Owner Caught in Rant is a Democratic Donor." Oh, the horror, the horror. But as with most excrement on Fox News and Fox Nation, this is basically, uh, excrement!

There is constant whining, on Fox, about conservatives being denied their freedom of speech by "politically correct" liberals. But the same concern isn't shown about liberal speech when it offends conservatives. Lately, Fox has been showcasing alleged liberal bias on campuses. Fox & Friends validated right wing hysteria about a liberal professor's "rant" about Republicans, even after the teacher apologized. Fox friend Tucker Carlson and his right wing guest, Caleb Bonham whined about how colleges are "little indoctrination centers." The narrative was continued on Saturday's Fox & Friends when three conservative students whined about their professors. And this morning, Elisabeth Hasselbeck channeled right wing outrage over a professor's street theater to further promote the popular Fox persecuted student and, for bonus points, persecuted Christian meme in a segment that didn't quite hit the propaganda mark.

Bill O’Reilly has a new excuse to attack Beyoncé and also take a shot at the media at the same time: Time Magazine’s decision to put Beyoncé on its cover of the 100 most influential people in the world issue. It’s hard to know why O’Reilly would disagree with the influential part. He keeps painting Beyoncé as almost singlehandedly leading the young women of America down a road of debauched, irresponsible sexuality.

Savvy Fox News watchers caught Bill O’Reilly’s scathing jabs at his colleagues’ championing of Cliven Bundy Friday night. But O’Reilly also whitewashed Fox’s fawning coverage of Bundy by saying there had been “a wide variety of opinion expressed in a vibrant way.” Furthermore, O’Reilly camouflaged his criticism of Fox by accusing CNN’s Brian Stelter of dishonesty and worse – and suggesting that Fox’s Bundy coverage was no different than MSNBC’s coverage of Chris Christie’s Bridgegate.
