Martha MacCallum, Dr. Manny Alvarez Engage In Fact Free Freak Out Over Plan B
Alleged "fair & balanced" "news" host, Martha MacCallum has expressed, on several occasions, her horror of emergency contraception because it makes slutty sluts even sluttier. When the Plan B age restriction was lowered to15, she was outraged and now that the Obama administration is complying with a GOP appointed judge's order to make it available to all women, regardless of age, poor Martha just can't deal with it. And neither can Fox's "Medical A team" member, Dr. Manny Alvarez who joined Martha, today, for another hissy fit which was used as yet another reason to blame President Obama for the demise of female health and virtue - despite the fact that the administration was complying with a court order not mentioned by the crack "fair & balanced" news and medical team of MacCallum and Alvarez.

While young boys and girls can walk into a pharmacy and purchase condoms, the new HHS policy, which allows women and girls of any age to purchase "Plan B" emergency contraception, is throwing the Christian right into a total tizzy. After the Obama administration lowered the Plan B age (in violation of a court order which mandated that the drug be available to all ages) to 15, Fox's "The Five" whined that this would encourage "promiscuity"; and, according to the vehemently anti-choice Eric Bolling, would "cover up rapes." In other words, young girls who are sexually abused need to have that baby as evidence for the prosecution. Now that the HHS has complied with the court order, this morning, on Fox & Friends, "Pro-life Media Luminary, Laura Ingraham, provided yet another iteration of the crazy talk with her commentary that Plan B encourages rape and sexual abuse. True story!

Sean Hannity was a vision of sanctimonious hypocrisy last night as he decried the NSA data mining efforts as an “unprecedented ability to spy on you, the American people” and he whined that “Big Brother is monitoring your every move whether it be online or on the telephone.” But Hannity’s concern for privacy seems very much to depend on which party is in the White House.

Just a few weeks after Megyn Kelly actively helped promote George Zimmerman’s attorney’s efforts to demonize Trayvon Martin, Zimmerman's shooting victim, Sean Hannity did his part for the Zimmerman defense team. Last night, Hannity selected a video the defense wants admitted into evidence as one of the three viewer choices for “video of the day” – and then gratuitously opined that the unflattering-to-Martin video should be admitted.

Apparently, Neil Cavuto got quite a bit of pushback after he raged at and cut the microphone of Democrat Julian Epstein over the weekend. Cavuto read some of the emails he had received about it on the air today. Many were appalled at his behavior, some supportive. Cavuto was not only unapologetic, he doubled down. Oh, and guess which blog was prominently featured in a graphic mashup of the reaction?

Greta Van Susteren was part of the This Week roundtable yesterday where she hit every Fox News talking point Roger Ailes could have wished for: accusing President Obama of hypocrisy about NSA data mining, criticizing President Obama for not having the courage to “move forward” and stop blaming “the last guy” and complaining that the DOJ’s examination of Fox reporter James Rosen’s phone records means that reporters who publish leaks “are now going to be prosecuted” even though Rosen was never prosecuted and won’t be, e.g. But when she ventured into lecturing Democrats on partisanship and attacking Susan Rice for “just taking directive” and not asking questions before going on TV – well, critical-minded Fox watchers must have been guffawing across the country
Read moreMark Fuhrman Describes Trayvon Martin As A Possible ‘Dead Suspect’
Megyn Kelly held a discussion on America Live today about race and jury selection in the George Zimmerman trial over the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. Instead of hosting an attorney, the guest was Mark Fuhrman – a slap in the face of African Americans if ever there was one. Even worse, as Kelly revealed her concern that the jury might be disproportionately black, Fuhrman repeatedly suggested that Zimmerman is the victim of a racial witch hunt and described Martin as “a dead victim or dead suspect” depending on “which side you’re on.” In fact, Martin is the dead victim, period. At worst, he’s a possible aggressor. But suspect? Only in Fox News’ white dreams.

Fox News “military analyst” Ralph Peters brought his customary inflammatory rhetoric to Fox & Friends this morning for a discussion about NSA leaker Edward Snowden. Without bothering to discuss any charges (which have yet to be brought) against Snowden, Peters leapt right to the sentence – and declared the death penalty is in order. Host Brian Kilmeade made it clear he knew of and was looking for Peters’ kind of attitude with his opening question, “You are a ‘take no prisoners’ person when it comes to the war on terror. How do you feel about (the leak)?”
Read moreFr. Jonathan Morris Pimps Christian Military Privilege
That Fox News loves victimized Christians is apparent in the steady parade of right wing evangelicals for whom they provide a pulpit from which to preach their steady whine about how evil atheists are trying to destroy Jesus. As we know from the reporting of Fox's intrepid Jesus BFF and gay pride parade stalker, Todd Starnes, the newest group of persecuted Christians are in the military which, according to Starnes and his Christian wingnut pals, is under the evil influence of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation which is also trying to destroy Jesus. But now that Michael Weinstein's group is successfully pushing back against those who seek to impose their Christianist views in a taxpayer funded military that is no longer homogenously Christian, Fox is now promoting the position of the aggrieved Christians who think that the military is scared of the MRFF. So who better to provide validation than official Fox priest Fr. Jonathan Morris who not only pimps for the Catholic bishops but those same folks who claim that Satan and the "gay agenda" are ruining our military?!
Read more"Fair & Balanced" Megyn Kelly Omitted Christian Criticism Of Christian Boy Hero Who Defied Prayer Ban
While Gretchen Carlson co-hosts an official Fox "opinion" show (and that's gilding the lily because "opinion" is based on cognitive thinking and that's sorely missing on the curvy couch), Megyn Kelly has an official Fox "news" show which is, according to Fox brass, under the rubric of "fair & balanced." But in providing gushing and laudatory support for Roy Costner IV, the sparkling young South Carolina valedictorian who believes that he was entitled to an audience for his non-approved valedictory Christian prayer, Ms. Kelly didn't do her due diligence in providing "fair & balanced" coverage. Perhaps she was just so overcome with patented Fox Christian fellowship that she forgot to mention that the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty was gently critical of Costner's stunt. I guess when you're spreading the gospel according to Fox (public school prayer is just fine and legal), being "fair & balanced" is downright blasphemous.
