Todd Starnes is so perfect for Fox News in that he sees himself, a white Christian heterosexual male, as being constantly menaced by the gay agenda and thuggish black folks. That sense of paranoia and fear, emotions stoked by Fox News agitprop, evidenced itself in Toddles' newest histrionic and arguably racist tweet.
Starnes doesn't seem to have a problem when white people get rowdy after big sporting events - but when black people engage in similar behavior, Starnes takes notice. He promoted a bogus story about a black "mob" that supposedly beat up a white guy. His reaction to an unruly flash mob, of mostly black youth, was to tweet that he wasn't "surprised" that this would happen. While a newspaper report didn't mention the race of those who got into a brawl at a Florida Burger King, Starnes tweeted "blacks riot at Burger King."
He even accused Obama of not doing enough to stop the bogus "knock-out" game - an urban legend about black youth attacking white people, just for sport. And now we have this tweet which cleverly combines an attack on the president with racist innuendo:
Baltimore is burning only in Todd's fevered mind. Those who protested the treatment of an unarmed black man, who died an agonizing death after having been in police custody, were mostly peaceful. Sporadic violence broke out, there was some property damage, and arrests were made. There were no fires. Starnes' suggestion that blacks are running amok (a popular Fox News meme) just isn't true.
Meanwhile, Starnes makes no mention of the facts surrounding the tragic death of Freddie Gray. But I bet that if this happened to a white, Christian, Starnes would be irate.
And naturally, Starnes' nice Christian twitter fans responded with their usual hateful rhetoric. Jesus loves hatemongering, right, Toddles?!
Toddy is the one who’s offensive. If the suits had common sense they would ban him from the network.
