Fox News Spreads Cardinal Dolan's Gospel

Posted by Priscilla -25.80pc on March 28, 2012 · Flag

It's not every Catholic Cardinal who has his own personal television network. But such seems to be the case for NY Catholic Cardinal and head of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, Timothy Dolan who appears to have less than six degrees of separation from Fox potentate and "god," Roger Ailes.

Ailes is a big bucks contributor to the archdiocese's Catholic Charities fund. Not only is Ailes a co-chair but his contributions put him the second tier "Guardian" category. That Ailes' Fox employees (one of whom, Peter Johnson Jr, does legal work for Dolan) do double duty as Dolan's acolytes is shown by the ongoing support, on Fox News, of the USCCB's talking points about the HHS birth control mandate. NY Diocesan priest, Fr. Jonathan Morris is the only religious game in Foxtown. But the PR doesn't stop in the Fox newsroom. Today, in previewing Bill O'Reilly's upcoming propaganda session interview with Cardinal Dolan, the "Fox News Insider" provides a link to the Fox News article about Dolan's position on "freedom of religion" and the Cardinal's very own blog which talks about the same thing. I do hope the Cardinal is grateful for the free PR. and if not, maybe Ailes will get time off from Purgatory....

Note to Dolan

Why are women not represented in the upper echelons of your church? That is so, you know, “Taliban”.

Saints preserve us! Bill O’Reilly is the most trusted news source in the nation, with twice as many percentage points as the second-place finisher (Diane Sawyer)? Not only that, among Democrats he ties for first with Jon Stewart (who isn’t even a real journalist)? God bless Cardinal Dolan for going to the right person then to argue where Obama has gone badly wrong.

Jabba T. Ailes won’t be happy when he finds out that God goes by the name of Allah.

So Sue, you think that the Catholic Church should be able to control a national “fair & balanced” news network? Really?
