Fox News and Donald Trump are getting divorced. Trump was not happy at being targeted in Fox’s debate last night and, predictably, he’s not holding back. He called Fox's Megyn Kelly a “bimbo” and Frank Luntz a “slob.”
In addition to Kelly’s “Megyn Moderator Moment” of confronting Trump in a debate question about having called women “fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals,” (which nobody should be fooled into thinking represented her “independence” from Fox), a Kelly File show immediately following the debate showcased a Frank Luntz focus group “overwhelmingly turned off by Trump at GOP debate.” That was the headline of a Fox News Insider post, not my description. By the way, we have previously found some fishy goings-on with Luntz’ focus groups and that he has deceptively deceptively skewed their makeup.
According to BuzzFeed, Trump told reporters after the debate, “(T)he questions to me were not nice, I didn’t think they were appropriate, and I think Megyn behaved very badly personally.”
Later, Trump took to Twitter where he attacked Kelly as a “bimbo” in a retweet and calling her “totally overrated and angry” in another tweet.
On Fox & Friends this morning, The Donald went after Luntz. “This slob that you have on your show, what’s his name? He does the focus groups,” Trump said.
Cohost Brian Kilmeade defended his colleague, saying, “Listen, he’s not a slob, he’s a good guy, Frank Luntz.”
“I don’t like him,” Trump retorted.
Later, after Trump complained that debate moderator Bret Baier’s opening question about running as a third-party candidate was aimed at himself (which it undoubtedly was), cohost Steve Doocy used that as an opportunity to press Trump on the subject again.
But the Fox/Trump divorce is at least somewhat amicable. And it’s quite possible they’ll kiss and make up in the future. Kilmeade ended today’s interview by saying, “We miss you on Mondays,” and Trump saying he misses them, too.
