Sarah Palin made a brief visit from oblivion to CPAC over the weekend where, if you didn't fall over laughing at the spectacle of her complaining about other people demonizing the opposition instead of leading, you might have heard her take a swipe at Karl Rove. Yesterday, Rove just happened to be a guest on Fox News Sunday where he just happened to be given an opportunity to respond. I'd say he smacked her down pretty good.
Although Palin didn't name Rove, everybody knew whom she meant when she said the following:
If these experts, who keep losing elections, ...keep gettin' rehired, rakin' in millions, if they feel that strongly about who gets to run in this party then they should buck up or stay in the truck. Buck up and run.
You may recall that Rove has publicly jabbed at her, too. Recently, Rove has come under fire from within his own party for trying to prevent what he considers unelectable Republicans (think Todd Akin) from getting nominated. I have often wondered if his "keep it electable" strategizing played a role in Palin's departure from Fox. In any event, he was conveniently on the air yesterday and host Chris Wallace asked him to respond. Rove said:
Rakin' in millions? I'm a volunteer. I don't take a dime for my work with American Crossroads. I even pay my own travel expenses out of my own pocket. I thought Sarah Palin was about encouraging volunteer grassroots volunteer activity. I'm a volunteer.
Second of all - look, I appreciate her encouragement that I ought to go home to Texas and run for office. I would be enthused if I ran for office to have her support.
I would say this, though. I don't think I'm a particularly good candidate: sort of a balding, fat guy. And second of all, I'd say if I did run for office and win, I'd serve out my term. I wouldn't leave office midterm.
That got a hearty laugh out of Wallace.

Just think of the Scum (Palin or Rove) and the Sludge (Rove or Palin) in a septic tank.
