Yesterday, during their Republican convention coverage, Megyn Kelly and Brit Hume kept right on talking during the singing of the Star Spangled Banner. Mediaite noted that while MSNBC aired the song in full, Kelly and Hume "acknowledged the anthem before going right back to discussing the convention. As they were literally in an open-air box in the convention center, the anchors actually had to raise their voices."
If MSNBC had done it, Fox News' coverage would have gone something like, "Well, a network's decision to talk over the singing of our national anthem has some people wondering if that shows a disrespect for America." And then the slew of attacks from a "fair and balanced" debate would ensue.
UPDATE: I just noticed they talked over the Pledge of Allegiance, too. If they really loved America, wouldn't they have stood up and joined in?
