Newt Gingrich appeared on On The Record last night where he pointedly said it’s time for an “American” energy plan. Later, Greta Van Susteren asked him about a National Journal article headlined, Gingrich Ignores Comment on Obama Being Muslim. “I take it you don’t think President Obama’s a Muslim,” Van Susteren said, and asked why Gingrich did not correct the person who said it.
For a moment Gingrich looked like he was about to launch one of his attack-the-media schticks. “You know that is such total baloney,” he said. “I don’t have an obligation to correct every single voter about every single topic.”
“I also didn’t agree with him,” Gingrich claimed. But Gingrich must have gone to the Hannity school of not calling Obama a Muslim. Because almost as soon as Gingrich had disavowed the notion, he began to deliberately paint Obama as "stangely" anti-Christian and pro-Muslim.
"Let’s accept that he’s Christian. He’s a Christian whose policies to apologize to Muslim extremists while they’re killing Americans at the same time that he’s waging war against the Catholic Church and against every right-to-life institution in this country… Now you tell me. Let’s accept he’s a Christian in his own light. He went to a Christian church for over 20 years. Why is it he’s more sensitive to radical Islamists who are killing young Americans than he is to the Catholic Church, to Baptists, to fundamentalists, to people who are… pro-life.
I mean, the fact is, this is a very strange presidency. And he carries this out in other ways. Why does he want to pump oil in Saudi Arabia, which he called for last week, and he’s against pumping oil in Louisiana? You have to wonder, why does he want the jobs in Saudi Arabia and not the jobs in Louisiana? I just think it’s a strange presidency and you don’t have to attack his, whatever his personal religious beliefs are to attack his behavior."
Van Susteren ended the interview.
The “Muslim” discussion begins at about 5:45 in the video below.
BTW, I say I’m a Catholic even though I don’t act like one … or do I …
NOTE TO THE NEWT
Old fool, members of your own party don’t want you as president.

Oh, wait. Assholes have a positive function – they expel waste and toxins from the body. Gingrich , on the other hand, injects them into the body politic.
