If you thought Fox Nation readers would have enough class to put aside political differences and show some respect to the newly-deceased Andy Griffith - well, you'd be wrong. Although the post, itself, had a banner saying, "FOX NATION SALUTES," many of the readers had nothing but smears and jeers for his passing. Screen grabs after the jump.

Have a safe fourth everyone, and please don’t forget your four legged family members. Fireworks can be very scary to our dogs and cats as July 5th is the busiest day of the year for our animal shelters.
If we somehow don’t stop them they will run around the streets with heavy guns and blast anyone away who either looks different or doesn’t think like they do.
And they have the nerve to call themselves Americans and Christians. Every day this country gets more scary to live in.
Mr. Griffith did an internet ad with Ron Howard and Henry Winkler in 08 supporting Obama and did a pro health care ad. He was a lifelong Democrat.
I loved the Andy Griffith Show, especially during the Don Knotts years. When I heard yesterday that he had died I gave out a long and sad noooo.
Look Fox Nation I didn’t agree with the politics of John Wayne or Jimmy Stewart, but I loved their movies. At least put your hate aside for one day and take the time to honor someone who brought us so much laughter and love.
After hearing the news didn’t many of us start whistling the theme song The Fishing Hole from the show? RIP Mr. Griffith, and thank you.
In all likelihood, they smell as bad as they spell….
Then complain that 99% of the people who read them think they’re a psychotic hate group.
