Last week, Allen West told members of the military to disobey the orders of the Commander-in-Chief. But Fox News could not care less. Last night, West appeared on On The Record where host Greta Van Susteren not only didn’t mention it, she welcomed more Obama attacks from West.
On September 26, West wrote on his Facebook page about the military’s decision to expand a program allowing foreign nationals with special skills to serve, “This is an illegal order and should not be followed by our Military.”
Merriam-Webster defines sedition as, “the crime of saying, writing, or doing something that encourages people to disobey their government.”
That’s right, it’s a crime. And even if it weren’t, you’d think Fox would have fired West on the spot, given the network’s previously-expressed grave concern about undermining a (Republican) president with criticism during a time of war.
But no. Van Susteren was all ears for West’s comments about President Obama’s claim that the intelligence community had underestimated the threat of ISIS. It’s obvious West was chosen for one reason only: to further malign Obama. It’s not as though West, a former Republican congressman and disgraced Army veteran, would have any additional information about either the current state of intelligence or the Obama administration. Other than his special brand of inflammatory partisanship, that is.
Maybe Fox felt the need for West to “balance” Van Susteren’s “liberalism.” Which she hid well in this segment - as usual.
Although West has blamed the Army's rules of engagement for his own misconduct, he quickly criticized Obama for “his inability to accept responsibility.”
If Van Susteren noticed the irony, she didn’t mention it. “Is that not being a leader?” she asked about Obama, fishing for more criticism.
“It’s obviously he’s not a leader,” West told her. West went on to accuse Obama of “dereliction of duty” for underestimating ISIS. He even suggested that Obama doesn’t really care about protecting America. “Then you have to ask the question: Is the president’s head in the game as far as his number one priority, his number one title and responsibility is commander in chief,” West added.
Not that Van Susteren minded such an outrageous smear. She again prodded for further criticism by asking, “How does DNI Clapper stay in the job?”
“How does anyone keep their job in the Obama administration?” West replied. “…That’s the entire fallacy of this administration, in that no one is responsible.
Oh, and of course he brought up Benghazi.
Van Susteren closed the interview by saying,”Congressman, always nice to see you. Thank you, sir.”
