On February 14, Fox & Friends mocked Facebook for widening its choice of gender options to include “transgender” and “cisgender.” That was to be expected. What was a big surprise was the sincere and thoughtful apology made by host Clayton Morris yesterday.
Yesterday, Fox & Friends discussed another gender issue, this time a high school considering making its graduation gowns one unisex color. As the discussion ended, Morris said:
Just put yourself in the shoes of those children, though, who have to deal with that. …Look, I made a pretty ignorant statement a few weeks ago. We were talking about the Facebook story, where they added the bunch of different gender-identifying things? And I made sort of an off-handed comment and I regretted it later because, ‘Wait a second. There are people who are actually dealing with this and I’m an idiot for saying something stupid like that.’ So before you open your mouth, just think about it a little bit.
It’s nice to see a Fox host do the right thing. And considering how much time we spend criticizing Fox for its insensitivity, it’s only fair that we recognize and applaud it when it happens.

I agree—he should receive kudos for apologizing. Unfortunately, I’m not seeing that he’s going to be with the KKKorporation much longer. (Or he’ll be making another apology very soon—one apologizing for this one.)
