Neil Cavuto blatanntly promoted Fox News contributor Scott Brown ae a great candidate because of his good looks yesterday. Cavuto noted that Brown is tied in a poll with New Hampshire Sen. Jeanne Shaheen and he made a special point of letting Brown, formerly a Senator in Massachusetts, say he lives in New Hampshire (a sore point). But mostly Cavuto praised how Brown looked in a shirtless photo after a polar plunge.
After squaring away Brown’s legal residence and a possible presidential bid, a smiling Cavuto said, “A lot of buzz, Scott, about this certain picture of you in your polar plunge here. …All the woman on the staff are going nuts.”
Brown tried to argue that the newspaper photo was not an attempt to grab attention. He said, “If you look at the bottom half of the fold, you’ll see that everybody, it’s like 75% out of the 1500 people that were there were wearing no shirts as well. It was a polar plunge. …It was a wonderful charity for Special Olympics. And I’d do it again tomorrow.”
Cavuto took it a step further by comparing Brown to John F. Kennedy: “It immediately, Senator, had me thinking of a certain other Massachusetts guy whose name escapes me, this picture, John Kennedy, that moment, what do you think?”
Brown brushed aside the comparison. “First of all, I’m just being myself, Neil. I’m just going to help out a charity.”
Cavuto pressed on. “…With all the other candidates who might be running - let’s say for President - you might be the best looking, and that might be helping.”
“Elections are about more than looks, they’re about ideas,” Brown said.
“Nahhh, dat, dat, dat, no, no, no. John Kennedy had plenty of talent, but he also knew he was also a good looking guy, and I still think we live in a society that values such things,” Cavuto insisted. Then he asked about Brown’s presidential aspirations.
Brown said, “I’m not going to comment on any of that right now because I’m really just trying to get my footing in our new home with two weddings coming up.”
Neil “They’ll (the weddings) be out of the way by 2016.”
“We’ll see,” Brown hedged. “I appreciate your efforts and your kind words both publicly and privately.” He joked, “If it means that much, I’m going to send you an autograph picture.”
“You ought to send it to the staff because they think you should run,” Cavuto said.
Once again, Fox News serves as a launch pad for a Republican candidate.
