On yesterday’s Your World, host Neil Cavuto and contributor Stephen Moore of the Wall Street Journal used the sequester and the FAA furloughing of air traffic controllers to try to make President Obama look bad. Noting that “some Republicans” must be getting concerned, Cavuto "asked," “It really isn’t the Republicans’ fault, is it?”
“Who are they madder at?” Cavuto later asked, meaning the public. “When they’re on a line, do you blame the President, Republicans, or do you just collectively say it’s Washington?”
Moore answered:
So far ,I think the President has lost this sequester fight because people are saying wait a minute why are you cutting the most vital things? Remember what happened when he cut the White House tours? People were saying this is craziness. Of all the things to cut, why are you cutting the things that matter the most? Now this is something that affects every American traveler every day so it is causing major headaches, and by the way, one of the things that Republicans and some Democratic Senators said today in a press conference is this isn’t just a matter of inconvenience Neil, this is an issue of safety of the air traffic control system.
…Who’s going to win this thing? I don’t think the American people are going to be too happy with the President because he’s the one who’s furloughing these workers.
In fact, as DailyKos reported, a poll last month by ABC and Washington Post found that 47% blame Republicans for sequester, and 33% blame President Obama. The previous poll was 45-32 Republicans to blame. That could have changed in the interim, but an AP-GfK poll released last week found job approval of congressional Republicans 10 points below that of congressional Democrats and 19 points below President Obama’s.
Cavuto should have challenged Moore’s prediction.
I love the way Fox News makes it out that Obama can pass anything he wants, any time he wants, without the aid of congress… then turn around and try to present him as weak because he can’t get the house to cooperate with him.
Why? Is Cavuto no longer a part of the FoxNoise Liars Club?
The first paragraph ends with the statement: Noting that “some Republicans” must be getting concerned, Cavuto “asked,” “It really isn’t the Republicans’ fault, is it?” Cavuto set it up for Moore to blame Obama so why should he challenge the premise he initiated?
