Yesterday, Your World’s Neil Cavuto added his efforts to Fox News’ smearing the delay of the Affordable Care Act's enrollment deadline to sign up for health insurance. The choice of Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) as guest pretty much guaranteed that inflammatory attacks would follow. Just to make sure, Cavuto opened the discussion by saying, “This could be another goalpost just conveniently pushed.”
Bachmann sneered, “Isn’t it a wonderful world? The administration gets to have it any way they want to have it. All their promises about ObamaCare, completely hypocritical. They didn’t come through, and now this? More of the same. Unfortunately, it is the continuation of lawlessness from the administration.”
No challenge from Cavuto as to how the administration is acting lawlessly by delaying the enrollment date - or in any other way.
Bachmann added, “This has one thing in mind, it’s about President Obama trying to keep the senate in Democrat hands in 2014. That’s it. Not one of these changes has a thing to do with helping the American people as to whether they can lower their insurance premiums or have better access to health care. …(I)t’s a program that will never pay for itself, never. It will never be sustainable.”
In reality, the Congressional Budget Office has estimated that the Affordable Care Act cuts the deficit. The CBO also estimates that repealing the ACA would increase the deficit by $109 billion from 2013-22. But there was no mention of that by “fair and balanced” Cavuto.
However, Cavuto did give Bachmann his stamp of approval at the end. He said, “Congresswoman, great seeing you again.”
Only Fox News would demonize an effort to enroll more people in health insurance.
