Fox Nation Mocks Obama For Talking About Respect and Tolerance In 1991

Posted by Aria and Ellen · August 23, 2012 1:16 AM · 5 reactions

How desperate was Fox Nation for a new angle to attack President Obama? So desperate they pulled out his yearbook from Harvard Law School. Their great smoking gun? You may have to sit down to hear this… in 1991, he posted a quote calling for “mutual respect and tolerance.” Oh, the horror!

Is This Poll the 'Slaughter' Fox Nation Claims It Is?

Posted by Margarita · August 22, 2012 9:25 PM · 7 reactions

Yeegads, someone at the Fox Nation likes to create big screaming headlines! Take this post, which is titled "Obama Slaughtered in Latest Gallup Poll." If you read the body of the text, gentle reader, you'll find the poll doesn't give Obama brilliant ratings (especially not with respect to the economy). If you link to Gallup's own story (Fox Nation generously provides the link) you will find that Obama's overall job rating is 45%. Bill Clinton, the past president with the highest rating, came in at only 53%. Would you call that a "slaughter"?

Cavuto Gushes Over Democrat-Turned-Republican For Romney

Posted by Brian · August 22, 2012 6:10 PM · 7 reactions

On yesterday’s Your World, Neil Cavuto spoke with one of his favorite politicians, Artur Davis, who seconded President Obama's nomination four years ago but now will be a “key speaker” on behalf of Mitt Romney at the upcoming Republican convention. Cavuto said, "I've always thought your shift was a seminal event right up there with Douglas Wilder, the former Virginia governor, attacking Joe Biden for the famous ‘chain and shackles’ comment. In other words, very reasoned and reasonable Democrats."

Paul Ryan Beefs Up His Foreign Policy Cred – By Warmongering Against Iran

Posted by Ellen · August 22, 2012 4:09 PM · 10 reactions

If you liked what Paul Ryan helped the Bush administration do in Iraq, you’ll love what he's cheering for in Iran. That was the message from Ryan’s campaign stop on the Hannity show last night where Sean Hannity credulously welcomed Ryan’s boast that voting for the (misbegotten) Iraq war – and going to the funerals that ensued – gave him enough foreign policy gravitas to talk tough and support an Israeli strike against Iran.

The Fox News Website Warns Of Atheist Attack!!!!

Posted by Priscilla · August 22, 2012 1:29 PM · 3 reactions

Just when you thought you were safe from alien invasions, along comes a new threat. In what could be a poster for a grade B horror flick, the "fair & balanced" Fox "news" website is now warning us about a truly scary attack on Christians and Mormons by truly scary atheists who, as Fox warns us, are out to destroy the most awesome country that Jesus created. Grab yer bibles and yer guns cuz atheists, in Charlotte NC, have erected billboards that "target Romney, Obama beliefs." Funny, Fox has never had a problem with the vile anti-Obama billboards that occasionally make an appearance across this "exceptional" country. Anyway, be afraid, be very afraid cuz the atheists are attacking!!!!!

Fox & Friends Validates Tony Perkins' Attack On SPLC & "Liberal Media"

Posted by Priscilla · August 22, 2012 11:39 AM · 7 reactions

After Dr. Tiller was murdered in a climate of anti-abortion zealotry fed by the rhetoric of anti-choice secular and religious leaders, as well Bill O'Reilly's nationally televised crusade against the doctor, pro-choice leaders didn't appear on Fox News to address the real hatred that was directed (and still is) against them. But after a failed shooting at the Family Research Council, on the part of somebody who isn't part of a national movement, the head of the FRC has been given free Fox News face time during which he continues to blame both the librul media and the Southern Poverty Law Center for giving the gunman a "license of shoot." And how does Tony Perkins arrive at that conclusion? Why it's because, during the recent, brief "controversy" over Chick fil-A, the media referenced that FACT that the SPLC had classified the FRC as a "hate group." Prior to that, it's probably safe to say that most folks never heard of the SPLC; but according to Perkins it's the one spreading hate when the REALITY, not mentioned on Fox, is that the FRC has some decidedly dirty laundry. On Monday, Perkins got more Fox face time to whine about being unfairly accused of hate while he accused the SPLC of causing the actions of the shooter. Got hypocrisy?

Sarah Palin Wants Todd Akin To Quit – Like She Did!

Posted by Ellen · August 22, 2012 2:02 AM · 13 reactions

Only on Fox News, and maybe only on BFF Greta Van Susteren’s On The Record, would Sarah Palin be able to tout quitting her job as governor halfway through her first term as some kind of political judiciousness and have it accepted without challenge – or without a host falling over in laughter. But that’s exactly what happened last night as Palin held up her own decision to “know when to fold” as an example for embattled Rep. Todd Akin. And then she went on to urge a third-party candidacy if Akin refuses to drop out.

Laura Ingraham Whines About ‘Liberal’ Media Focusing Too Much On Rep. Todd Akin – And Then Makes Him The Top Story Of The Factor

Posted by Ellen · August 21, 2012 11:41 PM · 5 reactions

Apparently, when it comes to reporting on the political firestorm created by Rep. Todd Akin, it’s a case of “do as I say, not as I do,” for O’Reilly Factor guest host Laura Ingraham. During her Talking Points editorial tonight, she suggested it’s the Obama-biased media that has kept the focus on Akin. And then, without a moment of irony or self-consciousness, she segued to the top story which was about – you guessed it! Todd Akin.

Fox News Discusses Newsweek's Obama-Bashing Article, Wonders if it's the Beginning of a Trend

Posted by Margarita · August 21, 2012 5:05 PM · 8 reactions

After months of winging that the so-called liberal media is giving President Obama a pass, Fox News is dancing a tentative happy dance over the highly negative “Hit the Road, Barack: Why we Need a New President” cover story in Newsweek by columnist and Harvard/Oxford professor Niall Ferguson. Both Ferguson and Byron York of the Washington Examiner, appeared on On the Record last night to speculate about whether the article might be the beginning of a backlash against Obama in the mainstream media.

Hannity, Who Wants Akin To Drop Out, Once Defended "Forcible Rape" Bill!

Posted by Priscilla · August 21, 2012 11:14 AM · 12 reactions

As they say, changes in latitude, changes in attitude. Back in May of this year, in defending his beloved GOP and reinforcing the Fox message that there is no war on women, Sean Hannity attempted to dismiss criticism of a House bill, co-sponsored by Todd Aking (and Paul Ryan) that would have provided abortion funding for rape victims only in cases of "forcible rape" - wording that would have severely limited the definition of rape and incest in order to further limit Medicaid payments for abortions in cases of rape. Because of the public outcry, that language was taken out of the final bill. Hannity claimed that those who cite this bill, as an example of the GOP's war on women's reproductive rights, are just "distorting" the Republican record. So I guess while Hannity had no problem with "forcible" rape, "legitimate rape" is a bridge too far?
