As the mouthpiece for the Christian right, who fear and loathe transgender identity more than they do homosexuality, Fox News was front and center in promoting Christian right hysteria over a new California law which affords protections to transgender public school students. Much of the fear mongering centered on how this would impact bathroom etiquette. As its source for transgender bias, Fox utilizes the services of its medical "A Team" member, Dr. Keith Ablow whose history of anti-transgender commentary has raised serious questions about his professional ethics or lack thereof. A recent Ablow article, praised by a hate group representative, underscores why there are still questions.
Ablow's disconnect with real science and base bigotry was shown in a recent article in which he doubled down on the misinformation and bias by claiming that there is no "definitive" data supporting the existence of transgender identity - a claim that he used to advance the Fox bathroom hysteria. And for his efforts, he was praised by Bryan Fischer, spokesperson for the SPLC designated hate group, The American Family Association.
Recently, on his radio show, Fischer (who has hosted Fox's Todd Starnes and Mike Huckabee) went on yet another bizarre baseless anti-transgender rant. After fear mongering about the so called California "bathroom bill," Fischer sourced, for his subsequent transphobic screed, Fox's "quack psychologist," Keith Ablow:
"We're gonna bring this in, because this is a piece written by Dr. Keith Ablow. He's a psychiatrist. You see him on Fox News all the time, he's part of the Fox News "Medical A Team," and he writes about this bathroom bill. Now this guy is a psychiatrist - that means he's a medical doctor. He's an M.D. And he writes about his analysis of this bill. ... And Keith Ablow has a good piece about how destructive this is."
Fisher then showed why the AFA is a hate group when he said this about those who are transgender and those who support the " transgender bathroom bill:"
“...Who are the people operating in the realm of science? Well, it’s us because we know you’re either male or female by DNA assigned to them at the moment of conception by a creator God who doesn’t make those kind of mistakes"...If they think they're trapped inside a female body that's not God's fault, there is something wrong with their own way of thinking and their thinking needs to be corrected...“If we embrace the truth that we find in the Scriptures, that you are either male or female, DNA does lie, anatomy doesn’t lie, and you take authority over any lie that comes into your mind, then you eventually will be thinking straight about your sexual identity. So we’re the ones that are operating in the realm of science here.”
So, if Fox is "America's Newsroom," it would appear that it is endorsed by those who hate their fellow Americans and whose hate has been reinforced by a Fox "doctor." Ain't it America, for you and me...!
Hell, if you want to go back even further, there’s the Garden of Eden. Who the hell puts a tree in the middle of the place and then tells His creations that they can eat anything in the Garden—but not from that one tree. And then, why did God create a crafty talking snake? None of the other animals seem to have the power of speech but the snake does. Between putting a talking snake and a “forbidden” tree in His perfect garden, I’d say that’s a bit more evidence of an infallible God.
