The gang on the curvy couch hates "political correctness" because it is not only an acknowledgement of the sensitivities of groups heretofore maligned, but it represents a society that acknowledges changing gender norms. For the religious right and their conservative choir on Fox & Friends, the idea that the American family is no longer the "traditional" 1950's model but something entirely new - one that encompasses OMG gay couples having and raising children - is truly threatening. And now that the Dept. of Education is changing its federal student aid form to recognize the changing family realities, Fox & Friends is right there to advance the view of "family values" groups, like Focus on the Family, who say that US Department of Education is "bowing" to the OMG "gay agenda." and that the change is "very offensive." Of course the kids on the couch didn't say it in so many words; but the message was still loud and clear!
Last week, using their trademark "PC Police" visual and sound effect, the happy conservative campers proceeded to mock the new student aid forms - all in good fun, of course. After reporting that the new forms will no longer have OMG "mother" and "father," but "parent 1" and "parent 2," they joked about who, in their obviously very traditional marriages, would have those designations. The topic was covered in two segments during which one of the chyrons was a dead give away about the official Fox message which somehow was framed as yet another example of conservative victimization: "Sorry, Mom and Dad, No Gender Specific Terms on Fin. Aid Forms."
And this being Fox & Friends, where propaganda trumps facts, the audience was not informed that the changes also include step-parents and grand-parents as well as OMG unmarried couples. One assumes that if the walls of genius actually read about the new policy, they would be happy because, under the old designations, the incomes for those not considered mother and father might not have been counted and, thus, the student aid amount might not have been accurate. Another salient point about the change is that it will help reduce bias towards children of same sex couples which, in the happy land of Fox & Friends is probably considered silly "PC."
But the important message, under all the happy chat about the silliness of the new policy, was really about how the change recognizes same sex marriage - not exactly something embraced by the Fox demographics who, if you read the comments on Fox Nation, are not concerned about "PC."
It's not just the Westboro Baptist Church who "hate fags!"

RW-nut definition of PC: anything that councils the ignorant against venting in a hateful, frothing-at-the-mouth hatred and aggressive manner, at “others”. A very primitive and un-Christian definition, IMO.
