Fr. Jonathan Morris At Las Vegas Event Featuring Justice Antonin Scalia

Posted by Priscilla 0.40pc on September 06, 2012 · Flag

That Fox priest Fr. Jonathan Morris pals around with some heavy hitters in the radical, Republican right is underscored by his lecture, yesterday, for the Nevada chapter of the St. Thomas More Society where controversial, ultra-conservative Justice Antonin Scalia was the keynote speaker. The venue was the Palazzo which has connections to GOP money man Sheldon Adleson. (Scalia voted yes on Citizens United). I'm sure that Fr. Morris made some important contacts in "sin city" and whatever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas so it's all good!!!

@paul brown: Isn’t it amazing how the Republiconservatives routinely condemn and criticize “trial lawyers” in their efforts to impose “tort reform” but they have no problem speaking in front of and accepting campaign funds from corporate lawyers?

The teanut trio. Adelson is a hate-filled warmonger who relentlessly lobbies for an immediate USA attack on Iran. Scalia is an arrogant SOB who long ago convinced himself that he is the law regardless of what Congress and the President enact. Despite his vows, Father Spanky cares nothing for the poor and disadvantaged. His exclusive focus is sucking up to (or is it just “sucking”?) the rich and privileged.

I get a queasy feeling when an associate of the SCOTUS is a keynote speaker of a front group for corporate lawyers whose litigation could possibly show up on its docket in the near future.

Richard C Gordon, St Thomas More Society (Nevada) president, is an partner in one of the law firms and the lead attorney in a lawsuit defending Countrywide Financial (now Bank of America Home Loans) against the FDIC.

@al in la: Yet another attempt to impose orthodoxy (probably the “missionary position” and hetero-activity). Wouldn’t surprise me a bit if he would have liked to recommend nightgowns with strategically placed holes to prevent skin contact?

Antonin Scalia is a stomach turning hypocrite. He champions personal liberty but in almost every case he sides with the state over the rights of the individual. A most prominent example: In Lawrence V. Texas he actually asserted—in the minority, thank goodness—that conduct inside the privacy of someone’s bedroom can be criminalized. This is an enemy of liberty and freedom. That is all.

All that sanctimoniousness doesn’t ring true somehow. Too slick by far.

Wasn’t he ordained within Macial’s Legionnaires of Christ? The founder of that splinter group – now deceased – is still being investigated for unconventional activities, including the fathering of children with several women. He’s not a bigamist, trigamist, … or decimist because he never married. I’d reach for my cross if Fr. Morris were to appear in my vicinity.
