On MediaBuzz yesterday, host Howard Kurtz acknowledged that the departure of CEO Roger Ailes, after numerous allegations of sexual harassment, “has been a painful and embarrassing period for the network.” But, he added, “The news operation that the 76-year-old Ailes built, remains in place.
Kurtz presented what I consider a reasonably fair and balanced summary of the events that started with former host Gretchen Carlson suing Ailes for sexual harassment. Even if Kurtz did seem to repeatedly emphasize praise of Ailes and tributes to his importance – while ignoring the salacious details of what has been alleged against him and Fox.
Also not mentioned is the possibility that other heads will roll, too
But I’m not sure whether any other network would have done better in a similar situation.
Since Kurtz made this report, Michael Clemente, another high-level Fox executive has been dismissed.
