Fox Nation hyped a false rape case, using the headline, "Woman Files False Rape Claim Because She 'Didn't Enjoy It." It's a blatant attempt to trivialize and discredit real rape cases via a suggestion that accusations may well be frivolous and phony. Paging "legitimate rape" Todd Akin! In fact, one commenter, "akin4prez," thought this was proof that Akin was right. (H/T Christopher)

This hit piece on Fox holds no water. This woman did more damage to women who are raped, not Fox. False accusations of rape are abhorrent. Reporting on them is not. The comment you published is of note. But not the fact that fox reported the false accusations. Maybe we should start a site called “comment collies”, because there are crazy commenters everywhere, on both sides of the fence.

So, uh, any sympathy at all for the guy who could have gone to jail, lost his job, reputation, children, and freedom? And probably would have gotten beaten in prison for a sex assault..

Aria, since I’m guessing “akin4prez” is a guy, I’d suggest we round him up and give him a week or two in a maximum security prison. And more importantly, let him try going to the authorities with his rape story. Prison authorities rarely get involved with prison rape accusations (and in many “akin-friendly” states, they’ll go so far as to DENY such things occur) and most right-wingers seem to feel that such things aren’t important (obviously in Rightwing Nuttistan, anyone who winds up in prison obviously deserves whatever happens to them).

Tell this Akin4prez what- We subject them to a crime of this nature, then they can judge it, based on their level of enjoyment.
