In his ongoing attempt to claim that America is going down the road to perdition, Bill O'Reilly says a Department of Defense course is a sign of the creeping "secular-progressive" agenda which OMG will end white, male privilege and OMG foster equality!
Last night's "Back of the Book" segment had Bishop Bill reporting that a Department of Defense course teaches that OMG the Bible, the Constitution, and the Declaration of Independence "all foster sexism."
Fact Check - The cover sheet for the course says that "quotes from the Bible can be misinterpreted as having a sexist influence when brought out of context and not fully understood" and that the US Constitution's "we the people" didn't include slaves and women. The Declaration uses the term "men" in addressing equality.
He tossed to his fellow Catholic traditionalist, Sister Laura Ingraham for validation which she obligingly provided. She wasted no time bashing the President and employing a popular O'Reillyism with her comment about how military sensitivity training, at the beginning of the Obama administration, "was the beginning of the mainlining of this fanaticism of the secular progressives" within our military." Hitting more Fox/O'Reilly memes, she whined about how this evil liberalism has crept into our educational system and, of course, Hollywood. After she gloated over how the course's website page was pulled down after the right wing Daily Caller (run by the misogynist Tucker Carlson) "bravely" exposed it she noted that the DOD is reviewing the course content. She described it as "moon bat stuff."
O'Reilly bloviated about how these materials were products of "their times." But in "playing the devil's advocate," O'Reilly noted that there are problems involving the inclusion of women in the police and military and as such, teaching respect for women, would be appropriate. In responding to charges of sexism in the bible, Ingraham blithered about "the mother of God" who "gave birth to our redeemer" (yours, not mine) and Eve who was created from Adam's rib (seriously, she believes that?!) and that the idea that this is sexist is "ludicrous."
When Ingraham lamented what "this does to our military," O'Reilly did acknowledge that this is voluntary. Ingraham suggested that those who don't attend, won't be promoted. Bill wasn't willing to go that far and said that the course is a "colossal waste of time." She warned that this is some kind of insidious plot, "a perpetual undermining of our Founders, our framers, our founding documents."
On cue, O'Reilly claimed that this is a step on the road to forging "a brave new world of secular progressivism whereby there is no white privilege, no male dominance, we're all the same, we all should have the same things."
Good Catholic Laura worked in the requisite Islam bashing: "You notice that they never focus on the Koran the always go directly to the Bible." To his credit, O'Reilly said that's because the majority of Americans are Christians. Ingraham lamented that "we're encouraging all faiths, introspective backgrounds, let's spread around this secular progressive thinking to all faiths, it's always hammering the Christians." To Ingraham's comment that this shouldn't be a part of the military, O'Reilly said "absolutely." She wanted to know how much money goes to these "whacky, moonbat ideas."
Oh, the irony - "whacky moonbat ideas" indeed! But hey, Bill's Barcalounger brigade, who want their country back, need something to be angry and paranoid about and Bill gives them what they want!
So….he’s admitting that white privilege and male dominance are currently the norm?
