Paging Bill O'Reilly, Gretchen Carlson, and all the other Fox Christmas Crusaders. Fox News, the employer of the aforementioned Christmas warriors who decry the secularization of Christmas, has sent out its seasonal cards and OMG, Jesus is missing!!! Todd Starnes, who was appalled that the White House holiday card which featured the "First Dog" and had no bible verse, should be outraged, outraged I say, over his employer's blatant disregard for the sacredness of Christmas!!! The covers of the Fox News and Fox Business News cards have no Jesus, wise guys, angels, or any other accoutrements of the only types of greeting that are approved by those who are fighting the evil forces of atheistic secularism. Rather, they are a Jesus free zone that skewers Fox's media rivals. And what's even worse is that there are no bible verses; but rather, Fox themed lyrics to popular Christmas tunes. I am truly chagrined and appalled!!!
While I don't know if there is an acceptable "Merry Christmas" or heretical "Happy Holidays" inside the cards, these cards (deemed "holiday cards" by those reporting about them) are not what Jesus ordered. The Fox News card has some cute, cartoon horses, wearing saddles with logos from other networks chasing a Fox. The two cable news networks CNN and MSNBC are represented by donkeys back at the "grooming center." While there are Christmas trees and menorahs in the background - there is NO HOLY FAMILY!!! There is, however, some unintentional irony in that those viewing the race are sheep which is an appropriate image for Fox News viewers. But do check out this website for the so non-religious message that is matched to the tune for "Sleigh Ride" which features lyrics that describe Fox News hosts as "journalists" and the network as "fair & balanced." Ho, ho, ho.
The Fox Business card has a picture of Santa who is checking out his "naughty and nice" list. While he is standing in front of a fireplace that has a little Christmas tree and menorah on the mantle there is NO HOLY FAMILY!!! Sheep are peering through the two windows. (Is Fox mocking its audience?) Santa's nice list consists of the Fox business luminaries and includes Lou Dobbs whose views about immigration are not really nice, but whatever. Those who are naughty are from CNBC - Jim Cramer, Larry Kudlow, and Andrew Ross Sorkin who, unlike anybody on the Fox list, wrote a best selling, prize winning book about the Wall Street banking crisis, "Too Big to Fail" - a book that was made into an HBO movie. The lyrics are matched to "Santa Claus is Coming To Town."
What were they thinking when these cards were designed? Didn't those who were tasked with the making of the Fox cards get the memo from Bill O'Reilly? While Christmas trees are part of the iconography they don't pack the Christmas religious whallop that a Nativity scene does. I assume that O'Reilly and the crusading Christmas crew will denounce this secular blasphemy. Then again...
The Baby Jesus is weeping!!!!
Is Fox News, in satirizing their war on competitors, part of their own "War on Christmas?"
Of course Fux cards have a Jeebus!!!! You just have to find him!!! If you can’t find him you’re damned to hell!!!!
