Just when you thought that Bill O'Reilly had reached the nadir (or is it zenith?) of absurdity with his paranoid delusions about the attacks on Christmas by evil secular forces who are trying to bring down "Judeo-Christian" tradition, think again. Last week, Bill agreed with an extraordinarily misinformed (and equally misogynist and homophobic) Bernard McGuirk that the totally bogus "War on Christmas" is somehow part of the pro-abortion and pro-gay rights lobby. And while we know that Bill is an anti-choice zealot, he also claimed that he doesn't care about gay marriage - oh right, he wants the churches to fight against it because it's bringing down Judeo-Christian traditions. It's a complex world.
In a discussion of what seems to be O'Reilly's central delusional obsession, Bernard McGuirk, who once "joked" that Madonna was a "two legged yeast infection," made the claim that "the war on Christmas is very, very real, and if you ask me, in addition to some grouchy misanthropic heathen atheists it has to do, at the root of it, with two things — abortion and the gay rights agenda, because Christianity is against those things." He added that "it's subtle; but that's why it's so pronounced in recent years."
FACT CHECK: There are a number of mainstream Protestant denominations that not only welcome the LGBT community but have gay clergy. The Episcopal Church has gay (and gay married) bishops. These same churches are also proudly pro-choice. In fact, there are many pro-choice clergy who act as escorts at abortion clinics.
Bill provided us with more paranoia about how secularists are trying to ruing things for nice Christians like Bill and Bernie"
"Hundred percent agree. I absolutely agree 100 percent that the diminishment of Christianity is the target and Christmas is the vehicle because the secularists know the opposition to their agenda (legalized drugs is in that as well) comes primarily from the Judeo-Christian traditionalist people."
No, Bill, secularists aren't trying to "diminish" Christmas and Christianity. They're just exercising the same Constitutional rights that allow you to spew your batshit crazy talk on national TV. If anybody is trying to "diminish" anything it's your crew who are trying to diminish reproductive freedom. But seriously, dude, simmer down now. Remember what Fr. Morris said about being angry at Christmas. And if that aint diminishing the reason for the season, I don't know what is!
And, I’ll bet you that many of those “gay married” couples will have bigger and brighter and more festive decorations at their homes and will host better parties and will lavish their friends and family with far better gifts (not necessarily more expensive, just better) than anything you’ll do. And not even the Holiday/Christmas Grinchiest gay man or lesbian will ever match you in terms of sheer misanthropy.
