Monday night, The Kelly File hosted a supporter of Darren Wilson, the police officer who shot and killed the unarmed Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. Kelly attempted to boost her “fair and balanced” cred by indignantly complaining that other news organizations had ignored a rally on behalf of Wilson. So what’s CNN? Chopped liver?
Kelly said in her introduction, "On the other side of this argument, those who are speaking out on behalf of officer Darren Wilson. They held a rally this weekend but you probably did not see it because not a single camera from a national news organizations could show up for those supporting this officer.”
You have to wonder how hard she looked. It turns out CNN was there. The Lead with Jake Tapper aired a three-minute report during its show beginning at 4PM ET - five hours before the 9PM Kelly File. Tapper's report also showed that the Wilson supporters had a bit of a racial prejudice problem once an Asian man appeared and asked the crowd to leave. It was a tidbit that Kelly somehow left out.
You can watch the two reports below.
3/3/19 update: The CNN video is no longer available, though the blog post is.
