Bill O'Reilly tried to do his part to help rehab Dr. Ben Carson after he said he doesn't believe a Muslim should be president. But Fox's conservative Charles Krauthammer wasn't having any of it. Dick joke included!
Carson, as you probably know, created a bit of an uproar when he said on Meet The Press, “I would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation. I absolutely would not agree with that." He also said he does not believe that Islam is consistent with the constitution.
O'Reilly tried to deflect attention away from Carson's remarks by calling the controversy a "P.C. fog" that "has shrouded important issues." In other words, O'Reilly thinks we should be hating more on President Obama for his "failed policies" instead of allowing the liberal media to be "trumping up dopey stuff about Muslims."
But Krauthammer wasn't having it. Watching him smack down O'Reilly's thesis was a thing of beauty. He even threw in some zingers at Trump. Like this one, in which Krauthammer, who is also a psychiatrist, dryly joked about Trump:
He's the one who's gone on and on and on in just about every speech about how... Jeb Bush is a very, very low energy guy. He's got this teeny, tiny, weenie energy while Trump has this giant, big, huge energy. ...And you need a psychiatrist to deconstruct that.
Watch it below, from the September 21 The O'Reilly Factor.
What’s pitiful is that BOR does the very thing he’s decrying it all the time on “The Factor” – when your target is a liberal/Democrat, of course. Yet, when the criticism is directed at someone on the conservative side, he bogusly asserts that it’s “dopey stuff” and tries to change the subject (and even fibs in doing so by claiming the “liberal media” isn’t upset with Obama over declining wages as Eyes on Fox pointed out below).
As to Krauthammer smacking down of BOR, he did a good job. BOR would like to ignore the truth of the matter because it shows some of the GOP candidates for who they really are. It was good to see Krauthammer tell him why he is wrong.
*with regards to Trump, I also believe that when he attributes his more nasty remarks to his distaste for political correctness, it’s ridiculous. The remarks in question are Trump being rude and boorish. Calling people names and making snarky, gratuitous comments about their physical looks isn’t some bold, anti-PC move – it’s him being coarse and unnecessarily mean. Apparently his parents never taught him any manners.
To claim the so-called “mainstream media” is a bunch of drooling liberals suppressing stories of American worker wage woes to make their buddy Obama look good is a whopper of a lie. Heck, even liberal blogs like Daily Kos have pointed out growing income inequality and declining real wages. Bill’s real complaint is legitimate press outlets don’t turn issues like this into excuses to smear liberals. This is a rerun from the charge the media is liberal because it doesn’t share many of GOP TV’s politically motivated obsessions like Benghazi or emailgate.
What O’Reilly leaves unsaid about the monstrous administration failure training anti-ISIS fighters in Syria is this is Obama reluctantly caving to mostly Republican cries (though Hillary is in this camp too) for training moderate elements in Syria. Sure, Obama is president and is responsible for this or any failure under his watch. However, this is a failure of right-wingers’ (like O’Reilly) beloved first line of diplomacy: the Pentagon. It puts in doubt all of the analysis of a legion of right-wingers who paraded on Fox News cavalierly pimping this strategy. It puts the American boots on the grounds wet dream of right-wingers into question because that’s what created the power vacuum in Iraq that built al Qaeda, ISIS’ daddy.
Chuck Odd… Todd… the loser interviewing the loser Carson – despite right-wing criticism over the question – should have asked a tough follow-up as to delve more into the meat of Carson’s bigotry but let the entire bombshell sit in the dirt waiting to explode post-interview. Carson’s press secretary, IMHO, added gasoline to the fire when she tried to downplay it as saying he only wouldn’t vote for a Muslim for president, not they couldn’t run for the office but added Carson thinks Islam is incompatible with the U.S. Constitution. Huh?
