Donald Trump may not know what a nuclear triad is, but that doesn’t mean he’ll hesitate to go all Dr. Strangelove and drop some nukes on somebody, somewhere. And Fox host Eric Bolling thinks that makes Trump like Ronald Reagan.
Trump spokeswoman Katrina Pierson made the trigger-happy comment during an O’Reilly Factor discussion last night about the bromance between Trump and Russia’s Vladimir Putin.
Conservative Kurt Schlichter blasted Trump for sucking up to Putin and not knowing what our nuclear triad is.
SCHLICHTER: I think this is terrible… Next, I expect him, to see ‘em going riding down the beach, shirtless on horseback together, holding hands. It’s kind of disgraceful. I mean, Putin is, you know, our enemy. But coming from a guy who can’t tell you what the nuclear triad is, I’m not real surprised that he’s slobbering over dictators. At least they’re not leftist dictators like Obama prefers so I guess that’s something.
Pierson argued that making nice with Putin was strategically wise.
PIERSON: The pattern of taking out dictators in the Middle East has created a vacuum for more and more terrorism. So you have someone like Vladimir Putin who, by all the power indexes has been shown to be the leader of the globe right now, as one of the super powers and he just says, look, I recognize the leadership and strengths of Donald Trump and it was just that simple.
…We do have to work with other world leaders who are willing to take on ISIS, unlike the current administration and others.
Schlichter took some serious swipes at Obama and suggested that Putin only looks good in comparison. “Look, Donald Trump palling around with dictators, in a mutual admiration society, it’s unbecoming, it’s disgraceful,” Schlichter added.
Pierson then came up with this “defense” of The Donald:
PIERSON: What good does it do to have a good nuclear triad if you’re afraid to use it? And that’s where we are today and we need to be discussing how we fix these problems, not just complaining and name calling about oh, who started this, who started that.
…Most people today… want somebody that’s gonna go to bat for them and right now, Donald Trump seems to be the only person doing it.
Schlichter hit back. “Katrina, the point of the nuclear triad is to be afraid to use the damn thing. …Frankly, my side will be more scared if Donald Trump gets his finger on the button.”
But guest host Eric Bolling seemed to relish the idea of a nuclear showdown. “The world leaders must be thinking, ‘This Donald Trump guy, I’m not sure what he’s up to, I’m a little afraid of it.’ Not unlike a Ronald Reagan," Bolling said.
Schlichter shot back that he’s the one who’s scared of Donald Trump’s finger on the trigger. “With Donald Trump, it’s like, hey, I don’t want to make a sudden move around him ‘cause this guy’s crazy. Holy Cow!”
Just when you think a Donald Trump presidency can’t get any more horrifying…
