So Why Didn’t Bill O’Reilly Demand Any Subpoenas In The Chris Christie Bridgegate Scandal?

Posted by Ellen -7859.80pc on February 07, 2014 · Flag

Just a few minutes after Bill O’Reilly bellowed orders at a U.S. Congressman to uncover presidential dirt – so far non-existent - about Benghazi, he whined about MSNBC focusing too much on Chris Christie “even though there’s nothing really new.” Could the double standard be any more blatant and brazen?

Maybe none of O’Reilly’s aged viewers would remember his hissy fit with Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) about 10 or 15 minutes prior to the Chris Christie segment. But we couldn’t help but notice that what O’Reilly thought was good – no, demanded - for the Democratic goose, he now condemned for the Republican gander.

To refresh your memory, O’Reilly dressed down Chaffetz with the following dictate about Benghazi:

You know as well as I do, Congressman, who the key witness is here. And this has been going on a long time. And I’m getting damn frustrated with the Congress of the United States. There’s one man that you need to put under oath and that man is Leon Panetta. I’ll give you his phone number and address in Monterey, California. You need to get that man in and solve this for the country.

…You guys should have done it long before this.

What O’Reilly implicitly acknowledged here and elsewhere is that there is no proof of presidential wrongdoing in the Benghazi matter. Yet, O’Reilly not only tried to tackle President Obama over the matter in their Super Bowl interview, he defended himself for doing so.

But in the Christie segment, O’Reilly said:

It’s hard to believe but MSNBC and other committed liberal outlets continue to hammer New Jersey governor Chris Christie almost every night, even though there’s nothing really new in the traffic scandal story. So WHY are they doing this?

…They’re gettin’ a little ratings bump over there but it’s surprising because it’s just night after night after night. There’s nothing new. They’re on a jihad against Christie. Why? Why are they wasting all the time?

… It is a big story if it can be proven that the governor lied to the people and I understand that and we’re covering it here on that basis. But there isn’t anything coming out. I mean, there are these charges that are unsubstantiated...

I guess MSNBC didn’t get the memo that the only scandal to hammer night after night, even when there’s no proof beyond unsubstantiated speculation, is Benghazi.

And then, still just looking out for “the folks,” no doubt, O’Reilly chose GOP operative extraordinaire Karl Rove to provide some “no spin” analysis of this.

Sorry, the guest was Karl Rove. The name was accidentally deleted somewhere in the editing/cutting and pasting. But I put it back.

Glad you asked.

Who was the “GOP operative extraordinaire”???

I don’t want to watch the clip.

With all my laziness,

Apparently, MSNBC didn't get the message that the only scandal to "hammer night after night" is Benghazi.
