This is looking like another bad week for Rupert Murdoch. First, a UK commission found him "not fit" to run News Corporation, his media conglomerate that has been mired in phone hacking scandals. Today, the deputy prime minister echoed those findings, saying they raised "serious questions of basic corporate governance in the Murdoch empire", which allowed its journalists to engage on illegal invasions of privacy on an "industrial scale". But wait, there's more. (H/T Eric J.)
Yesterday's Guardian reported:
Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (Crew) has written to the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, Julius Genachowski, calling on the regulator to pull the plug on Rupert Murdoch's lucrative television licences on grounds of character.
The letter argues that the final report of the UK Commons culture, media and sport committee, which concluded that Murdoch was not fit to run a major international company, had implications for the US regulators that they had now to act upon.
...Some shareholders are intensifying their calls for a shake-up at the top of News Corp on the back of the British parliamentary report. Change to Win, an advisory group that works with pension funds with over $200bn in assets, called for Murdoch to resign. Senior policy analyst Michael Pryce-Jones said News Corp's board should meet to form a succession plan immediately. "This is a company in crisis," he said.
Meanwhile, Free Press has also stepped up its call for Congress to investigate whether News Corp. has broken any U.S. laws. You can sign the petition here.
Democratic Underground has an interesting post showing how Fox & Friends covered the latest events in the scandal.
We knew in the early 1980s this man was bad news. The warning signs were there. Now, fast-foward to 2012, karma has caught up with him.
There’s more bad news coming down the pipe, and Ruthless and Nixon trainee Roger Ailes won’t like it.
We encourage all the masses to refer Fox “News” hosts as Rupert Murdoch employees. Tie their names to Murdoch when addressing the masses in public and in the streets.
When talking about Hannocchio, Billy and Goofy Doocy, say Rupert Murdoch employee…
The FCC has the obligation to pull News Corporation’s broadcasting licenses. This alone, will cost Rutless’ company billions of dollars of loss revenue.
Because of criminal wrong-doing, Ruthless’ U.S. citizenship must be stripped from him. Once this happens, he will be deported immediately from U.S. soil.
We need all the masses to start petitions and demand Ruthless’ deportation from the U.S.
