Rep. Keith Ellison had an epic confrontation with Sean Hannity tonight over one of Hannity’s mashup videos that purported to smear President Obama over the sequester. Or, as Hannity called it, "a Hannity highlight reel of President Panic in action." Ellison didn’t mince his words, telling Hannity, “Quite frankly, you are the worst excuse for a journalist I’ve ever seen.” Things went downhill from there until Hannity finally ended the interview.
Ellison said:
Quite frankly, you are the worst excuse for a journalist I’ve ever seen. …What you just displayed was not journalism. It was yellow journalism. It wasn’t anything close to try to tell the American people what’s really going on. I mean it’s just shocking.
…Every journalistic ethic I have ever heard of was just violated by you.
…You are a shill for the Republican party. …You alibi them 100% of the time.
Hannity was surprisingly restrained, probably because he had a Congressman on the show. But finally, he said, “Congressman, you are a total waste of time.” And he ended the interview.
Do you acknowledge that the conduct of Sean Hannity in repeatedly insulting and personally attacking President Obama practically every night is just as reprehensible as what you are citing regarding MSNBC?
And documented proof that Democrats are racists.
It’s starting to sound like there may be one or two people posing under multiple identies to get people stirred up.
But I’ll be fair here. I would agree that there have been times that MSNBC hosts have gone over the line and have said things that were inappropriate. I myself heard Lawrence O’Donnell say a few things about Mitt Romney and Mormons that I thought were out of line. That’s not to endorse Romney or the Mormon belief system – just that it felt personally to me like O’Donnell was making a pretty nasty set of statements. I’ve also heard the oft-repeated quote of Ed Schultz attacking Laura Ingraham. I know that she was saying things equally nasty to get him that riled up, but what he did was inappropriate. And we should note that Schultz apologized both on the air and personally to Ingraham before voluntarily submitting to suspension.
I don’t recall seeing any such apology by Fox News hosts after any of the personal attacks they have levelled against President Obama or other Democrats. They have occasionally apologized for using the wrong video feed (Hannity) or for misstating the occasional statistic (O’Reilly, I believe). Shepard Smith apologized once on air for inadvertently airing the violent end of a police standoff, and I do believe he meant it. Dick Morris apologized for essentially lying to the Fox News viewers about the real state of the 2012 Election polling before he was dropped. But I’ve never seen Sean Hannity apologize for any of his insults. At least not in a genuine manner – I’ve certainly heard him make sarcastic comments that don’t qualify as apologies. He has repeatedly, repeatedly referred to this President in the most personally demeaning manner possible, and then he wonders aloud why he never gets invited to White House functions.
In any case, the discussion here is not a competition between Fox News and MSNBC. The point is that Keith Ellison was calling Hannity out on his bad behavior and Hannity had no place to go other than to try to shout over him. Just saying that “the guys on MSNBC are bad too!” does not address the question at hand for this website. Unless the attackers of MSNBC here on this thread are simply conceding that Fox News’ hosts behavior is reprehensible by the same measure.
Maddow:
“Despite what you may have heard about Wisconsin’s finances, Wisconsin is on track to have a budget surplus this year.”-LIE
Fox News “said the New Black Panther Party decided the election for Barack Obama”-LIE
“President Bush never did one interview with the New York Times during his entire presidency.”-LIE
Gov. Sarah Palin “got precisely zero support for her call for Alaska’s Democratic Senator Mark Begich to resign because Ted Stevens’ corruption conviction was overturned.”-LIE
How about some Ed Schultz lies?:
With his decision on whether to fire Gen. Stanley McChrystal, President Obama “has to fix yet another problem he inherited from the Bush administration.”
“Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu received almost $1.8 million from BP over the last decade.”
Under changes being debated, state employees in Wisconsin “who earn $30,000, $40,000, $50,000 a year might have 20 percent of their income just disappear overnight.”
Some Olbermann?
“Subsidies for oil and gas companies make up 88 percent of all federal subsidies. Just cutting the oil and gas subsidies out would save the U.S. government $45 billion every year.”
“Yes, this would be the same congressman (Rep. Pete Hoekstra) who last year Tweeted the whereabouts of a top-secret mission to Iraq.”
Want more? There’s plenty to be had.
So why air the edited one that DOES make him look that way? Why not just air the unedited version? There is NO reason to air the edited version UNLESS she was going after the people who did the deceptive editing (which she wasn’t).
She even says “so, maybe that edit was cut in a way thats not fair to John McCain” and she aired it anyway. Why not air the original video? Why air the edited one that was edited to make him look bad? The only explanation is because she wanted him to look bad.
And I notice you didnt address the rest. Should I add some more? Because there’s plenty of them.
Did you bother to read the article, or did you just read the headline? Obviously, Newsbusters couldn’t be bothered to have actually watched the video or read the transcript, because Maddow said:
*
That’s the footage that was aired by Channel 3 in Phoenix. Obviously, there was an edit between the end of the woman’s question and the part where John McCain sneers the straight talk line at her. So maybe that edit was cut in a way that’s not fair to John McCain. Maybe he really wasn’t in real time so insensitive and abrasive to a woman who probably deserves some sensitivity when she is talked to about these matters.*
Maddow is acknowledging that the video (the one that went viral) was edited in a way that wasn’t fair to McCain, while saying that the “straight talk” line was still out of line, even in context.
BTW, channel three in Phoenix is an ABC affiliate. So NBC had nothing to do with the video she was condemning for being edited in a way that was unfair to McCain.
But don’t let facts get in the way of a good smear. Newsbusters certainly doesn’t. And since that link was the closest to honest the ones you could provide a source for got… let me laugh at you a minute.
And now even a segment of their base is turning away from them. There’s only so much stupid in this country…and even they can’t stay amused and engaged by the the steady diet of Palin, Bachmann, Cain, Santorum, Gingrich, Romney and the rest of the social misfits that Fox has at one time or another presented as their candidate.
When Fox couldn’t beat Obama, it showed that they are finally just a weak, whiny, hateful little network with no real political access. The desperate folks left gaping at their TV with blank stares and open, drooling mouths are all they have left. And even those cretins are leaving their screens to do some mindless posting here at Newshounds.
We won.
They lost.

As Tranny Coultergeist said about GOP blacks: Our Blacks are better than there blacks.

MSNBC has:
Made up a false Rush Limbaugh quote, had to retract it and never apologized.
Just the other night Maddow played deceptively edited video to try to make smear John McCain: link provided- http://newsbusters.org/blogs/jeffrey-meyer/2013/02/27/msnbc-s-rachel-maddow-gleefully-admits-using-edited-video-smear-gop
MSNBC doctored a clip from a Romney/Ryan rally in another smear attempt: link provided- http://townhall.com/tipsheet/greghengler/2012/09/28/msnbc_caught_doctoring_clip_from_romneyryan_rally
They had a host blame the Koch brothers for Trayvon Martins death
Claimed Bush never did one interview with the New York Times during his entire presidency.
Lied about warrantless wire-tapping.
Keith Olbermann lies about SIOA freedom rally against Islamic mega-mosque
Maddow claimed FOX said the New Black Party decided the election for Obama.
This is just a very small portion of what MSNBC does.
A) The president does everything he does because he’s a racist.
B) Black people cause all the crime in Chicago/LA, Mexicans cause all the crime in Arizona, and San Francsico is Sodom because they don’t persecute gay people.
C) Women’s rights are an affront to freedom of religion.
D) Protestors that MSNBC doesn’t agree with are their own crime rate.
E) Bill Maher, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert should be denied their 1st amendment rights because it offends a host.
F) Women who want femme inclusions on their health care are sluts- even though Fox News’ women already have the health plan they want.
G) Screaming “shut up!” at a guest, then lying it only happened once in six years.
H) Personally advocating that only one religion is allowed to build/repair/restore houses of worship in select areas.
I) Lying that other networks are ignoring stories they broke.
Wow, I could keep going on and on… MSNBC may have some liberal bias, but they also have manners, and accountability when someone forgets them. They’re also a large majority accurate when fact-checked, something that we’ve never been able to say about any host on Fox News, because what few facts Fox News can report are whatever enforces their bias.

And Maddow has been wrong on many occasions that she never apologized for or even acknowledged. As have Ed and Matthews.
I just cant understand this insane denial about MSNBC being a liberal news org. There was a study done during the election that showed MSNBC was more biased against Republicans than FOX was against Democrats; and thats hard to do.
