Bill O'Reilly's newest addition to his stable of lame sexist male comedians is Adam Carolla. During a recent "Factor" appearance, Carolla "joked" that the HHS policy, requiring insurers, to pay the full cost of women's birth control was like getting free beer. Hardeharhar. So we know that Carolla has no problem offending women whom he thinks aren't as funny as men. But last night, on The Factor, during a discussion about the appropriateness of "comedy" that mocks African-Americans, he demonstrated that he has no problem with possibly offending an ethnic group. And despite O'Reilly showing what appeared to be some sensitivity towards those whom Howard Sterns mocked, Carolla didn't share that sensitivity when he used a term that could be offensive to Polish-Americans. He also disparaged a large Los Angeles neighborhood and some of its residents, too. Hardeharhar.
O'Reilly began by playing video of Howard Sterns' contributors, Sal and Richard, who went to Harlem to ask African-American Obama supporters why they voted for Obama. But rather than being straightforward, they asked crazy and "loaded" questions about whether they believe if Obama made the right choice by picking Paul Ryan as his running mate and if he did it because he is black. They also asked if it bothered them that Obama is a Mormon. Bill wanted to know if Stern was being fair to pick just African-Americans for the piece. Carolla said that "comedy isn't fair" and that "most people are stupid." Bill suggested that Sterns could have gotten as much humor if he did a cross section of people.
Carolla responded "that if you're going to tell a (air quotes) Polak joke, it's not, you don't say Eastern European, you go Polak. That's the joke, you get specific. Comedy is about being specific." He added that he was "sad that NY has a Harlem which Los Angeles doesn't. We have South Central. It sucks."
After O'Reilly spoke favorably of Harlem, Carolla said "you should come down to South Central and get shot by South Koreans." As O'Reilly tried to change the subject, Carolla said "it's your core audience, I don't want to offend them."
Word to O'Reilly, ditch Carolla. He's not funny. "Polak" (like "Kike," "Mick," "Dago" etc), could be considered a bit - ah - offensive, especially on national TV. If you really want to show that you're fair & balanced bring in a woman comic. Oh right, you do have Ann Coulter. But seriously, how bout Joy Behar or Rosie O'Donnell! Never mind, just joking....
IMHO, Adam Carolla's crude humor actually gave Bill O'Reilly the high ground. Now that's funny!
Not even a problem seeing it. HD Window.
Many reviews of the show say as much- Kimmel’s too good for this, Carolla acts like he would try it. Still true today.
He then got his radio show, which has been bouncing around the map because he doesn’t know where the line is, and he habitually pisses off everyone in the city fast.
And how many times did he have to relaunch his website after it was pulled for copyright and obscenity violations?
Someone with his history should be washed up at a level the has-beens make fun of. But, because of how he got there… he has warm, secure spot with Fox News. Hate speech has that much value to them.
Billdo shoulda said “That’s our base yer taklin’ ’bout!”
