Mike Huckabee Doubles Down On Duggar Support – But Doesn’t Explain Why He Removed Their Endorsement From His Website

Mike Huckabee is still a staunch supporter of the Duggar family, to judge from his appearance on The Kelly File last night. So why did he remove their endorsement of his presidential candidacy from his website? He didn’t explain and host Megyn Kelly didn’t ask.

From a June 4 Salon.com article:

Someone associated with former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee’s presidential campaign removed endorsements from Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar from his official campaign website Monday night, Talking Points Memo’s Catherine Thompson reports.

According to the Internet Archive, the endorsements were still there as recently as Monday.

Yet Huckabee acted as if they were all still besties on The Kelly File last night. And Kelly did not question the hypocrisy.

Kelly said in her introducton, "The media bashing continues of the family and its supporters, including Governor Mike Huckabee. He found himself part of the story when he first posted about the Duggar scandal a couple of weeks ago. He wrote, “Josh’s actions, when he was an underage teen are as he described them himself, ‘inexcusable,’ but that doesn’t mean ‘unforgivable.’ …No purpose whatsoever is served by those who are now trying to discredit Josh or his family by sensationalizing the story.”

“His family’s authenticity and humility has come under attack for being so out there in criticizing gays’ and lesbians’ push for marriage equality and their protestations about how you’re supposed to treat family and children in the wake of what they did,” Kelly said. “Did you go too far?”

“Absolutely not,” Huckabee maintained. “In every family, we all deal with crises, we all deal with issues.” As if Josh Duggar's behavior was akin to getting caught with a fake ID or shoplifting.

From there, the discussion centered on whether the Duggars were media victims based on their Christian faith. Then Kelly questioned whether voters care about this. And Huckabee insisted it’s not, that the only time he gets asked about it by voters is when they ask, “Why is this such a big issue?”

Well, if it’s no biggie, then why are the Duggars gone from his website?

Watch it below, from the June 8 The Kelly File.

she already knows the answer, so she didn’t feel the need to ask him if he’d tell us.

That’s not snark- I don’t have a read on how they get along, but Kelly’s record behind the scenes shows that she’ll still ask for the ammo, should she ever need it. And something like this is will be a frickin’ hammer for quite a while.

Sensationalizing? Nobody cares about the Duggars. Nobody cares about Huckabee. Nobody cares about M. Kelly except for the far tea wingers.

Oh, for crying out loud, how the hell do you do an interview with Huckabee about the Duggars and NOT bring up the fact that his webiste removed the Duggar endorsement/quote?! Seriously, Kelly? She keeps touting herself as a tough, non-partial interviewer but she always ends up showing otherwise with behavior like this.

Of course, Megyn Kelly didn't ask.
