Although it was probably never in doubt, Megyn Kelly will be one of the moderators at the next Fox News Republican candidates debate, meaning she and Donald Trump will face each for the first time since The Donald’s meltdown over her question at the last debate.
Unless you were living under a rock last summer, you’ll recall how Trump threw a public temper tantrum over Kelly’s questioning at the first debate. It escalated into a Fox News feud that continues on and off even as recently as last week.
Of course Fox could not not have Kelly moderate again, along with repeat moderators Bret Baier and Chris Wallace. To pull her, or any of them, would look like a capitulation. And then there’s the ratings. I never believed the feud was a ratings stunt. But a re-match could mean even bigger ratings than the last debate, which broke records as the highest-rated primary debate in primary history and the highest-rated Fox News telecast ever. What television boss would turn down such a tantalizing ratings bonanza - for what?
I’m going to predict that Kelly will challenge Trump again. How he’ll handle it is anyone’s guess.
The Fox News debate will be held January 28th, just a few days before the February 1 Iowa caucuses that will kick off the primary contests.
We wouldn't miss it for the world.
