First, it was Russia the Fox News conservatives kept slobbering over. Now, it's North Korea. That is, if recent remarks by Mike Huckabee are any indication.
Over the weekend, Huckabee spoke at the New Hampshire Freedom Summit (sponsored by right-wing, Koch-loving Citizens United and Americans For Prosperity). MSNBC observed, "Huckabee seemed especially determined to show he could compete for conservative votes against politicians like Paul and Cruz, who have each earned a devoted following among tea party activists. While the two senators mostly stuck to their usual talking points, Huckabee offered an extra large serving of red meat."
My gosh, I’m beginning to think that there’s more freedom in North Korea sometimes than there is in the United States. When I go to the airport, I have to get in the surrender position, people put hands all over me, and I have to provide photo ID in a couple of different forms and prove that I really am not going to terrorize the airplane. But if I want to go vote I don’t need a thing.
Ironically, Huckabee followed up that little rant by complaining that there should be more restrictions on voting. Because, obviously, nothing says "freedom" like making it harder to vote.
Video below via Heather at Crooks and Liars - who suggested that maybe Huckabee could move there if he thinks it's so much better. I agree!
Meanwhile, I'm wondering what's next on the right-wing hit parade of countries they like better than ours. China? Iraq? Sudan? Submit your nominations. Maybe if we get enough donations, we could send each of them to the "liberty cradle" and/or "strong leader" of their choice!
If the Obama admin was anywhere close to the dictatorship in North Korea, Fox News would not be broadcasting anything, and you would be in jail.
An’ another thing, can we get back to lynchin’ people of, that is, people who look like the POTUS? That’s the America I remember …
The preacher would not last very long in North Korea.
Any criticism of Kimmy, and his role as leader is met with…well..you know.

- republican

Reminds me of that old expression: “Show me who your friends are, and I’ll show you who you are” . . .
.
And the Huckster must have missed this:

Yeah, go ahead, Huck….head immediately to North Korea, and take your believers with you. As fucked up as it is there now, I’m sure that you and your ilk can make it even worse.
Think so, Huck?
Here’s an experiment for you: if you really think so, just go on over to the DPRK some time and make the same remarks you’re making now — only instead of making them about President Obama, direct them at/to Kim Jong-Un.
You’ll soon find out just how much “freedom” you have there . . .
.
