Sean Hannity hosted a special “studio audience” show about the Zimmerman trial tonight and it wasn’t as unfair, biased and race-baiting as you’d expect. That is until smack dab in the middle, he interrupted the discussion for a little one-on-one pearl clutching over racial divisiveness with Ann Coulter. Yes, Ann Coulter. The queen of mean and Fox News’ Master Baiter Of Race had a sad about how racial tensions have been inflamed over the trial. Or at least that's what they'd like you to think.
“It’s the media trying to gin up riots, if there’s an acquittal,” Ann Coulter said, without bothering to name any names. She must have missed how just one night before, Hannity used MSNBC’s Al Sharpton’s call for calm and peace as a vehicle to ridicule and race bait against him. I’m going to guess that Rush Limbaugh's happy talk about riots didn't count. Earlier in the day, Limbaugh said:
There haven’t been any real, decent riots since Rodney King. I mean, you might have to go back to Rodney King to find some really decent, really qualified riots in terms of the way the media looks at these things. A sports championship riot doesn’t count because that’s engendered, really, by joy and happiness. If people want to tear down their town ‘cause their team wins, that’s one thing, but if they tear down their town because they think they’ve just been given the racial shaft, that’s made to order.
No, Ms. “our blacks are better than their blacks” was now whining that “it’s really ugly” the way “the media” (and we know she meant only media outlets to the left of Fox) will "grab at anything" to portray "white America constantly oppressing black America." In her most heartfelt voice (who knew she had one?) Coulter said: “Why does the media love tearing the country apart on race lines?” This, while appearing on the go-to show for race baiting against African Americans, whose host has a long list of bigoted buddies, and who thinks that Mark Fuhrman and Pat Buchanan are great choices to analyze the Zimmerman case. And from the woman whose stock in trade is to joke about murdering people, smear 9/11 widows and throw flames at people who disagree with her politics.
Oh, and apparently Coulter’s concern about tearing the country apart on race lines doesn’t apply to Hispanics. Because I vividly recall her anti-Hispanic rant just one month ago in which she described them as anti-capitalism and anti-Semitic.
Hannity nonetheless hung on Coulter’s every word. And, having established their racially sensitive bona fides, the two set out to smear African American sensibilities:
Coulter: I think it’s preposterous that (this case) would have been brought if the races were reversed.
Hannity: Bill Lee, the police chief, said as much.
The only thing worse than these two thinking that their hostility toward African Americans was sufficiently camouflaged with this phony-baloney act was the likelihood that there were plenty of viewers out in the very white Foxlandia who bought it.
Hugh’s flop house son is hoping that Zimmerman is acquitted so he can have an exclusive interview with him after the trial ends. He is nothing but a ratings hustler.
The Stop Hannity Express says Hannocchio is the last person to talk about race relations, given his past with racist friends and associates. The masses should call every radio station across the nation and bring this topic up for discussion. Turner, Buchanan, Nugent, George Allen, etc.
There’s a another legal court battle coming up, and rest assure it’s one Hannocchio will not talk about.
NOTE TO HANNITY
High profile scandals are like a drug to you. You have to have it now, or you will go nuts.
As for the idea of Sean Hannity hosting a heartfelt discussion about race relations and the death of Trayvon Martin, I can’t imagine anything more hypocritical. That’s a subject I would think he should avoid by a long shot if he had any respect for the families involved.
What’s been nasty to the level of being sinister about the AM radio/Fox News coverage here has been the veneer of phony concern sitting atop some fairly racist ideas. On the one hand, you have the various hosts enthusiastically rooting for George Zimmerman to be acquitted and making increasingly nasty comments about Martin, his family and the witnesses speaking on his behalf. On the other, you have some of those same hosts taking a cue to “take it down for a moment” and solemnly talk about what a tragedy the whole thing is. And sitting just under the surface is a fairly rancid narrative of the situation.
Because while Hannity is trying to sound dignified and sensitive, the story he’s telling is anything but. As presented by Hannity and the other Fox News pundits, the story of this killing winds up being how Trayvon Martin was an uppity punk who attacked George Zimmerman, tried to viciously kill him and got what he deserved. Because when you peel back the veneer over what these pundits have been saying, it boils down to the idea that Martin deserved to be killed and that Zimmerman was right to kill him. What’s taken this past the point of being offensive is the whole “They’re gonna riot!!” meme – which is a short way of saying that those uppity people are going to have a race riot because they’re too immature to respect a jury verdict. (And this gets coupled usually with a shot about how there never should have been a trial in the first place – and there only was one because people were being uppity, not because there was any grounds.
These guys can try to explain this away, but that’s the basic rationale that underlies what has been a truly sad and scary moment for right wing punditry. It’s been a moment where these pundits have completely contradicted their own normal “law and order” stance to stick up for a man who killed a 17 year old in a situation that he not only could have avoided but was in fact TOLD to avoid.
The only good thing concerning Manne and KKKlanity is that they can spew their garbage with straight faces.
Fact: If an armed black adult male vigilante stalked and shot to death an unarmed white teenager, mAnnie and his boyfriend KKKlannity would be squealing for summary execution.
And BTW, the cracker ex-police chief would have locked up the black adult immediately.
