Greta Van Susteren ignored Rep. Allen West’s hideous comments over the weekend – in which he suggested President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Debbie Wasserman Schultz should “get the hell out of the United States of America.” West is a regular guest on her show, On The Record, but there was no mention of his shocking remarks either by her or on either of the two prime time shows preceding her, The O’Reilly Factor or Hannity. Instead, Van Susteren purported to discuss comments by House Speaker John Boehner who, she announced, called President Obama’s economic message ‘Un-American.’” The guest for the segment was Democratic Congressman Xavier Becerra. But instead of discussing Boehner, Van Susteren spent the entire segment putting Becerra in the hot seat.
Van Susteren began by asking Becerra to discuss Obama’s remarks, not Boehner’s: “What do you make of the President’s remarks and others who say that the rich do not pay their fair share. Are you talking about some of the rich or all of the rich?”
She went on to question why Democrats had not changed the tax code if they didn’t like it. “Now, all of a sudden we hear this fair share business. So where were you on reforming the tax code (when Democrats held the House and Senate)?”
Becerra replied that Democrats never had enough of a majority to get tax reform through.
Van Susteren called that “an excuse.”
Funny how on Fox, even when a Republican is supposedly under scrutiny, the subject can turn around and make a Democrat the culprit.
