Fox Business host Trish Regan and guest Betsy McCaughey clutched their pearls so tightly over the Jay Z and Beyoncé concert for the Hillary Clinton campaign, it’s a wonder the two conservatives didn’t choke to death.
Regan, a blatant cheerleader for Donald Trump was oh-so concerned about Jay Z’s language. “Where’s the media outrage on this? Why does Jay Z get a pass?” This, from the woman who helped validate Trump’s bigoted attack on Gold Star father Khizr Khan.
And maybe Jay Z “gets a pass” because unlike Trump, the lyrics are lyrics and not someone bragging about he likes to “grab them by the p***y” in real life.
But, not surprisingly, the real interest in the Jay Z and Beyoncé concert was in using them to bash Hillary Clinton:
REGAN: What does this tell you about Hillary Clinton, how she’s willing to overlook stuff?
MCCAUGHEY: Hypocrisy is her middle name. And she is turning her whole campaign into the speech police.
[…]
She’s making political correctness the theme of her campaign but what’s really dangerous about it is it’s all targeted at men. A man can’t say a woman’s even nasty but women? They can accuse men of being sexual predators or anything and they get away with it.
That wasn’t a big enough smear for Regan. So she played the race card.
REGAN: Maybe if it’s a white man. I mean, Jay Z says it. … And he actually is brought up on stage and touted as a supporter and she’s using his influence to try and get to the African American vote and others that would support him.
MCCAUGHEY: Lowering standards. But even worse than that, if you see across campuses in this country and work places, it’s already happening. This liberal idea – “liberal” – that men, they’re the targets. Women can say anything, but this is man shaming and Hillary has really gotten into this. I’m telling you, over the next four years, if she’s president? Men will be second-class citizens in this country. They won’t be able to open their mouths.
Rather than push back, Regan prodded McCaughey again to make the attack more racial.
REGAN: It also seems somewhat race-specific, though, as well in that you know again – Jay Z’s allowed to say this and that’s culturally somehow OK but if you were Donald Trump and you said these things – Oh, my goodness.
McCaughey still didn’t take the race bait. So Regan went back to bashing Clinton for hating men. “What is the future of men if Hillary Clinton is in the White House?” Regan asked. Even though McCaughey had already told us.
Nevertheless, McCaughey was happy to repeat her attack:
MCCAUGHEY: I’m very worried that they are gonna be second-class citizens because you can look at Hillary Clinton’s campaign and see that in her mind, it’s OK to accuse a man of anything, with proof or no proof. But don’t call a woman any negative name even by implication.
That still wasn't enough Clinton smearing for Regan. She got in one final swipe.
REGAN: Of course, if you’re a woman who may have had a relationship with her husband, then the gloves come off and she goes after women hard there. So once again, speaking to the hypocrisy of Hillary Clinton.

And, by the way, this was not the only segment where Regan exploited the Jay Z and Beyoncé concert. Nor was she the only Fox host. Be sure to watch Media Matters’ mashup video also to get the full effect.

But I hear Regan planting hickeys on Trump’s ass sends a thrill up his leg. Don’t tell Melania. 😼
